So I've got 5100's all around with the front set at 1.75", and today I had the wheelers progressive 3 leaf AAL installed, which is advertised as adding 1.5" My intention for the progressive AAL was to increase load capacity and to get rid of the slight bro lean that I had from the 5100's in the front. Anyway, after picking up my truck from the mechanic today I hardly notice any difference in height in the rear at all... I even had them leave the factory overload in for additional height. Has anyone else had this experience?

What were your measurements before you installed, and what are they now?

I got 2" with mine, verified by measuring hub to fender before and after install.

If you don't have measurements before and after then I dunno what to tell you. Perception isn't always reality.

The rear was right at about 5.5" from top of the tire to bottom of the wheel well before install. Today it sits right at about 6.5", which is obviously 1" more, but it just doesn't look much different at all. I guess I was just expecting something more.

I was measuring from the top of the rear tire to the bottom of the wheel well. I am at work at the moment, but when I get home I'll post a pic.

I left the overload in when I put mine on. it is the hd one and gave me a little over 2" but has settled to just shy of 2"

Definitely would like to see full pic of the truck. Then maybe we can tell what is going on.

I guess it would be worth mentioning that I do not have the tsb. Before the Wheeler's pack I had 2 leafs and the overload. When I had the AAL installed I had the overload left in as well.

Before the AAL was installed I was pretty nose high. The AAL seemed to have corrected it, but only slightly, and I surely didn't get 1.5-2" out of it.

I have a non TSB as well. The problem is your shell. The AAL is a 1.5-2" lift on an unloaded truck without a shell. The shell weight (200 lbs +) is not giving you full heights.

    How do I know?

Leafs are too soft for the load, still. My shell weighs 220 lbs +/- and with a couple hundred in the bed I sag pretty good. I'll be installing Ride Rites in the rear.

That's kind of what I figured, I just didn't think the shell would have that much effect.

I was surprised myself. I had my AALs for 6 months before I got the shell. Now I'm only an inch higher in the rear unloaded and with 300 lbs or so in the rear, I can't drive at night without blinding oncoming traffic. Sucks.

But I bought the AALs for the lift secondarily, and to maintain a softish ride while unloaded primarily. I loved it until the shell install and it certainly isn't a huge surprise that my soft riding setup isn't a great load carrier.

I have the same issue while driving at night. Oncoming traffic is constantly flashing their lights at me, thinking that I have my brights on. It's a nightly occurrence...

Maybe consider another option. Or adding a small lift block.

Just got my truck back from the frame swap. 5100's set to 1.75, TSB leafs, and a little bro lean.

Contrary to everything I've read, the 3+1 TSB leafs I got are at the very least the same height as my 2+1 10 year old leafs, and maybe a hair lower.

Anyway, looking for options on the rear. Obviously would like to keep the price down, but don't want to half ass it either.

What do guys think about AALs vs. full leaf pack? Pros / cons? (other than price) Are you happy with the AAL? do you wish you went full leaf pack?

What about this set? Any feed back on these? The price is so cheap, I'm suspicious of the quality.

Only looking for about 1.5" over the factory leaf height, and would like to keep the factory ride quality. I don't haul a whole lot, other than the occasional Home Depot run.

I don't have any experience with the single AALs, but from what I hear they make the ride pretty rough. That's one of the nice things about the progressive packs is they generally increase ride quality.

Hows the ride with those compared to the factory leafs?

I haven't noticed a great difference once I added the progressive leaf pack. I can feel that they are back there, but I can't say it's hugely noticeable.
