    Anyone know why online it says our gas tanks have a 21.1 gallon capacity but whenever i fill mine up from empty it only tops off at about 16 gallons?

    I said when I fill up from when it's empty, the pump auto shuts off at about 16 gallons. I didn't say 16 gallons is empty lol. For example, If I'm driving and my E light comes on and I go to the gas station to fill up, the pump stops automatically at 16 gallons.

    How do you know it is empty? Did you run out of gas, and only 16 gallons went in?

    I have found there is about 4 gallons of gas left once the light comes on. Also, the gas guage usually will go below the E when truly empty.

    Of course I'm not actually empty, if I was I couldn't make it to the gas station, i mean when my light comes on and my fuel meter is on E.

    When your light comes on you have roughly 4 gal left, 4 plus 16 is 21

    That's what I was thinking, that explains why once upon a time I was able to squeeze about 50 miles out of my tank after my E light came on (I know when you're on E you're not totally empty). I was curious though because I've been averaging 10mpg lately. 212 miles from my last full tank. I just wish 4 gallons would take me further :/ I was in disbelief at the pump today, I drove 50 miles today after filling up and was left with about 3/4 of a tank. But at the same if you're driving a stock taco and your E light comes on and you're averaging about 16mpg then that would mean you'd have 80 miles left on your tank which kinda seems like a lot for your E light to come on at
