Used to be a firm believer in Mobil 1 but after reading the Blackstone test results on M1 vs. Pennzoil synthetics I started using Pennzoil Platinum, have 400 miles on my first round with it now so can't comment on it yet. I run 5w30 full synthetic Pennzoil Platinum, I'd like to run Pennzoil Ultra, but can't find it anywhere in town so PP was the next best thing. They claim it keeps pistons up to 8% cleaner than M1, while Ultra is supposed to keep them 25% cleaner than M1. Only time will tell I suppose. This is the 3rd time I've changed the oil since I've had this truck, I think the previous owner ran dino junk in it so after about 5 more changes on synthetic, the engine should be nice and cleaned up on the inside I hope.

My 2011 2.7 was ran on synthetic from new and one time I let the OCI go 10,000 miles, the oil still looked and smelled brand new when I drained it. It was only a tad bit darker than the new stuff that went in. I want my 5VZFE V6 to get that way in time. When it does, I will run 7k OCI instead of 5k.

I use the Napa oil 5/30 in both my 3.4 engines both get changed around 3000 miles or 3 months

I like the fact it comes in 5 quart containers 3 to a case.

i use mobile 1 high mileage full synthetic too and I flushed and refilled the auto tranny and power steering with Valvoline Max Life full synthetic tranny fluid

don't forget to flush out your brake lines too, that stuff gets old and dirty but no one ever thinks about it until it has a problem

Can you only buy Amsoil from a dealer? I never see it at any of the parts stores here.

you can get it online but mostly its certain dealers and shops that carry it (try motorcycle shops too) so you just have to ask around to see who has it. I feel its nothing special so why go to all that trouble really

Same here, I don't buy into all the Amsoil hype. 15k oil change intervals are bs. I've just thought about trying Amsoil in my ATV. I use Lucas synthetic in it now.

Valvoline syn power. I guess im the loner since no one has mentioned valvoline. 5w30. JUST switched, but unless it's a placebo effect, it seems to have helped a bit with my rough idle. I plan to change at 5k till it cleans everything out. Probably another 5 changes im betting. Oh, toyota oem filter.

Amsoil Signature series oil and Amsoil oil filter. I change both once a year or at 10k miles, whichever comes first.

Been running the PP for about 1500 miles now and have noticed a quieter engine, better startups and slightly better fuel economy. My engine loves this oil! Going to run it 5000 miles, drain it, run it again for about 7500 and then send the used oil off to Blackstone to have it analyzed and see how well it's working.

doesn't that become a messy situation just pulling the filter loaded with oil and a full crankcase of oil too? Man mines a freaking mess even after draining the crankcase on the 3.4l v6.

There's no residual oil pressure in the engine after you shut it off. There's a volume of oil in the filter (retained by the filter's anti-drainback valve) that will leak out regardless of whether you drained the oilpan first.

I run Pennzoil PurePlus (the one made from natural gas) because it... was on sale and I bought four 5-liter jugs :D. Previously I've used Mobil 1 and Castrol Syntec in both the Taco and the Subaru. The Mobil 1 came in "value packs" with a 4.4L jug and 1L bottle shrinkwrapped together. The Subaru took 4.4L exactly, so I use the 1L in my lawn motor. :D

You're going to fill your crank case with the used 5k mile oil you drained out?

I have been using Mobil-1 10W-30 since my first oil change at 800 miles on the odometer. My Taco is a 2000 Regular cab with auto transmission, bought it new in Oct. 1999.
