Tacoma Scratch ... need Help

Hey guys i hope this isn't a silly question, but it is really bugging me....

I had a deep scratch next to my antenna and i have pictures after it happened and after i touched it up some and you can still see it.

Any sugguestions on what else I can do? I know I can pay 500 dollars to have it fixed, but that would be crazy. Anything else I can do to make it less noticeable?

It's not that bad...

 

i would lose sleep over that, my truck has a lot worse of problems

 

I touched it up 4 differnet times allowing drying times. Then I wetsanded and I have it back to the surface and I can rub my finger over it and barely tell a difference. I had a frined tell me I could possibly get a paint sprayer and go over it with the factory touch up and make it look better. I don't know though. Any ideas?

sorry i know this sounds picky, but i have had it for over a year, but I just take care of my stuff... i hate it happened

 

I really wouldn't worry about it. Just for instance.... heres mine not too long ago. I have a completely diff view of my truck now. For me its just point a to point b.

 

Its a truck, it'l be ok...I hate scratches too. But you already touched it up. I wouldn't worry about it anymore.

 

Looks like you did a decent job, considering the scratch.

did you wax it?

 

waxes, polishes, etc wont really help that. that scratch is below several layers of paint which is why you feel the indention (sp?). you need to remove the paint around it to blend it all together but i dont recommend trying that yourself. might want to get a quote from a local body shop.

i've got a couple like that and i cringe when i see them. maybe i'll have them fixed one day, just like the other hundred things i keep saying i'll do to my truck lol.

 

the scratches that really bother me are the ones behind the door handle !

I how different the result would be if you had one of those AP or ARB bumpers.

If you are using a factory touch up paint kit make sure you are also using the top coat that comes with it. The top coat will finish off the color match. Try applying touch up paint until it is slightly higher than the surrounding paint and then wet sanding it down level. I had an enormous rock chip in the hood of a black BMW and it took me almost a month of painting, letting it dry and wet sanding until I was happy with it but by the time I was done you had to hold a flashlight across it sideways to see it.

 

its silver mica the touch up paint is good and all, but when you sand or use "blob" remover it comes out dark.(the fun of mettalic paint)
I have a few like that and I just fill them in to stop rust. I was wanting to try to tape it off and spray it then clear coat to see what happens. Maybe the next can of colormatch I'll try.
