2016 Tacoma pricing and TACOMAWORLD in the news

Rather not read people bickering about something that is irrelevant. But thank you.

 

Those options were not stock on even the 2015 TRD Sport, so if you want them then likely you will be looking at buying at least a 2016 TRD Sport with the primium options package's.

 

All these points about what you get for the additional money ignore a basic fact:

Product revisions *always* give you more and newer features. Most don't bump the price this much. Look at practically any car - the new model will have new features. But it's very rare that they go up by $3K-$4K in price.

And the "new features" on this truck are not that impressive compared to most all-new product revisions. I'll bet that at least half of the cost increase is pure profit.

 

For sure. They are carrying over or retooled a lot of components from the current gen (though others have tried to argue otherwise). But GM is getting MSRP or just below for their Twins why shouldn't Toyota. Midsized trucks are popular and I wouldn't expect prices to drop. Sad day, it may actually be better value to get into a full size these days.

 

I'm kind of shocked at the pricing. A double cab, 4x4 TRD Sport is only 1-2K from what you can get a 2015 F-150 2.7L SuperCrew XLT Sport for. The F-150 will definitely be faster, but can the Taco top the 17/23 fuel economy even with 55 less hp? I know Ford will continue to discount the XLT F-150's (in this case $13k+) but I don't think I've ever seen much in terms of rebates for a Tacoma. And KBB is showing MSRP to invoice is only ~$1,500? Is that right?

 

Don't forget to tack on the extended warranty for the Ford.You will need it.And your resale won't touch the Toyota.

 

That second part yes, but Fords are a different beast now. My dad got 200k out of his excursion (non diesel), neighbors 07 F150 has been trouble free and at 150k. I love Toyota, but other brands have reliable vehicles as well. I believe Ford recently was in the top 3 for quality.

Go price some used F-150s. They have strong resale too. And I'm aware of the Tacomas resale. We just sold our 4th Gen 4Runner after 6 years and 100k miles and only lost 5k to depreciation. Our 2013 Tacoma work truck has been in the shop more than our 4Runner ever was. AC condensate drain plugged, warped rotors (twice), stuck brake caliper, and dash power failure. Now the dash rattles like a 20 year old Chrysler.

 

Toyota isn't infallible, my 08 seemed better built than my 11, my 11 now better than my 15.

 

Actually, if you are a member of pretty much ANY Credit Union you can get the GM twins for VEEEERY close to invoice.

 

A) If you can find one. B) Invoice isn't far from MSRP C)most are paying only $1k less, very similar to Toyota pricing and actual otd price

 

A)20 just around me (within about 30 miles looking at the locations)
B)$2k is good enough for me to call it far enough away from MSRP, and the more options the bigger the difference
C)Depends on where you live, but they are sitting on the lots near me, so I would gather people can get better pricing than $1k off.

 

I got my 2014 TRD Sport with every option for $32,500-ish. Nav, JBL, Tow, Entune, 4x4, DCSB... Just as a point of reference.

 

is 4x2 same as Pre-runner? I had a 2006 Prerunner DCSB V6 with offroad package and love it, even though I never take it offroad and/or never towed anything. So, not sure what I should get.

Yes all 4x2 are prerunners in 2016. The (main) difference between the 4x2 and the prerunner in the 2nd generation is that the prerunner has the same suspension height and tire size as a 4x4 and has 6 lugnut axles. The 4x2 sits much lower and has 5 lugnut wheels/axles with smaller tires. They will not offer the 5 lug 'low-rider' suspension for the 3rd gen so now all 4x2 and 4x4 have the same suspension height and tires and thus all 4x2 will be prerunners.

Given that everything is a prerunner, I dunno if toyota will keep that name. We'll have to wait and see.
