Let me get this straight, you think Tacoma's are less of a "truck" because the interior door handle only takes a few fingers to operate? I always thought that was good engineering and build. You must think when the tailgate on most big three trucks take two hands and a mule to open, it that makes the "truck" a.......

just kill them with kindness. Offer them a ride when you inevitably find them on the side of the road. kidding. I dont give a shit what anybody drives. I like tacomas, so i got one. We all live on EARTH. No need to put up barriers of "brands". Like you said, the shirt on the numbskulls back was likely made in another country.

I have been dealing with the ignorance for almost 30 years. I too was a import basher before I got tired of the non-sense. I own 2 Tacoma trucks and a Tundra. I considered a Ford and Chevy before I bought my 2014 Tacoma. I didn't want to risk what has worked for me for 30 years. I have also had the opportunity to witness the struggles family members and friends have endured with the stupid stuff that breaks on fords and chevys.

Everybody is bashing Chevrolet and Ford for the recalls. Tacomas need to have their chasis replaced for god's sake!
How about the TSB's, they are not recalls but they are still problems. I think this is out of topic but below are the problems that I had with my Tacoma.

    Had my aceletator pedal replaced
My AC fan replaced twice (making noise again)
    Radio replaced
    Side windows seals replaced
    Rear window seal replaced (leak)
Windshield wind noise at high speeds in windy areas.
Rear leaf spring replaced, waiting for the recall fix.
    Headlights replaced

This may be a bit off of the topic but I've noticed one thing that is somewhat strange to me. After a couple of drives up to the north GA mountains and even in Tenn. I noticed more Tacoma's and particularly more lifted Tacoma's than I see in my area in the suburbs. Down here it seems everybody wants the big huge HD domestic lifted bohemeths. I guess maybe in the suburbs it's more of a pissing contest to see who has the biggest baddest street queen compared to the country/mountains where they actually use theirs and want/need smaller and more reliable? Just find it kinda odd.

I've got so much Japanese and European made stuff at this point I really don't care what someone thinks about it. They make great stuff that performs well.

Oh and those Rams are Italian owned now BTW.

The chassis replacement is due to rust or corrosion in Northern zones. You are basically driving in salt water. It appears that Toyota is assisting the owners of the affected vehicles. I would recommend that people who live in areas with salt or snow melting chemicals pay attention to metal components. Keep them clean. For example, when you use your outboard motor you should flush and clean it after using in salt water. You should also clean the galvanized trailer of salt residues.

I too am frustrated that manufacturers don't make things perfect. Reality is they mass produce something that has to provide a profit. If you mass produce something with minimal profits you will not survive. One only has to look at the GM Bankruptcy and bailout for the example. All vehicles are prone with problems. The companies with the most get affected the worst.

Isn't the Tacoma built mostly in Texas?

OP I think you should get some more mature friends. If you can't have a decent discussion about your truck with another adult without insults or jabs why even waste your time?

That's what I thought, I'd rather buy something made in the US then something from a US company that outsources their production to other countries.

Well all manufacturers are outsourcing parts. The Tacoma is full of Chinese components as well.

Very true, I guess my comment was more along the lines of outsourcing the screwing of the vehicle together.

If you think driving an "American" vehicle makes you a better American then you have been properly indoctrinated and propagandized.

Personally, I'll drive a Toyota based off of my opinion that they produce the most reliable vehicle in the segment I need, mid-sized truck. Whether it's made in Japan, USA, Mexico, or otherwise. If Nissan, Chevrolet, Ford, or Dodge produces a more reliable mid size truck, I would consider switching.

I was always an "American Car Guy" growing up. That's the way it was back then. First Mopar, because that's what my Dad drove, then Chevy (one slight detour to a Ford Mustang in 1981, that didn't go so well). I was mainly Chevy because my neighbor sold them, the dealer was local, and a good friend worked in service. Now, I own my Tacoma (first ever Toyota) and a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport . Guess what, the Tacoma and Hyundai are awesome cars and more "American" than most American cars. And give credit where credit is due, the "foreign" car companies, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai have invested significant dollars and created a bunch of jobs right here in the good ole' USA. :oldglory:

To call any of the big 3 a genuine American company is laughable. They are all international companies. GM, the same company that you and I bailed out, parked $7.1 billion dollars offshore last year, to avoid paying taxes here in the US. How's that for loyalty and appreciation for saving their hide?
If I'm going to support anyone, I would prefer to support the jobs of workers in my own great state of Texas. The mooching, corporate fat cats in Detroit can pound sand.

I have no interest in bashing anyone's ride. We buy what we like or can't afford any better. Either way, best to leave alone.

On the topic of imports vs domestics:
all other things being equal, I'll pick domestic every time. it's rare when it happens, but it's my preference when possible.
