I see the President of General Motors is from New Zealand. Guess y'all shouldn't buy GM anymore either.

    Immigrants! Immigrants everywhere!! :goingcrazy:

I'd actually like to know how many North Americans Toyota employs. I would bet that if you compared their percent of the market to the number or people they employ in NA the numbers are pretty impressive. Well... probably lower rate of employees to vehicles because they're no doubt more efficient and can run on their own success. As for the .2% of the company that's making the millions of dollars, who cares where they live.

As far as oversees quality from any country, it is as good as the QC from the company that is flipping the bill. Even China can make great stuff with the proper quality control. They, like us, can make complete crap if no one is paying any attention or doesn't care. I like to buy things made by people that are proud of what they do, no matter the country of origin.

Isn't it funny that we taxed the "foreign" cars so heavily on importing that they are now using Americans in America to build their "foreign" cars which oddly contain a higher percentage of "American" parts than the "American" cars that we are supposedly guilty of not supporting?

It doesn't bother me when people talk shit about my truck because I know my Toyota will out live their GM/Ford/Dodge POS and my truck will hold it's value much better too.

I've had this conversation before. The only domestic I would even consider is a ford. It's the most American. Chevy/GMC new stuff are garbage in my opinion.

But everyone who is pro domestic who has ridden in my truck afterwards says it is a very nice truck and they can't believe how nice it is and how much nice it rides/runs/ ect. My one friend fell in love with my truck and actually bought one last week to replace his GMC quad cab 1500.

Oh yea, the Chevy LUV was manufactured in Japan by Isuzu
and my Lexus is made in Canada. Before they were rebadged Rangers,
Mazda pickups were assembled from kits sent to New Jersey and had
transmissions made in France. Go figure.

When I was a kid my friend had a chevy Luv. Man we ran that thing into the ground over and over again and it never quit running. It had all 4 tires in the air jumping railroad track crossings Ala dukes of hazard at least once a week. Memories.

Them Chevy Luv's were sweet. My grandpa's co worker had one when I was a kid. I always thought it was cool.

I know where a Luv is that's sitting on 44's. Haven't seen it move in years though. It's just rotting away.

My dad was a WW-2 vet who served in Europe. He lost 2 cousins and a close friend during the war, one in the Pacific fighting the Japanese. Dad had some strong feelings about Japanese products even if they were actually built here. The way he saw it the profits still went to Japan, and I can understand why he felt the way he did. Not many of us would want to buy anything made in Iraq or Afghanistan no matter how well made or how cheap. Our kids and grand-kids may feel different.

Given the option of equal quality I'd still pay a premium to purchase a USA made product over something imported. But I'm not paying more for less quality regardless of where it is made.

My 07 Tacoma is my 1st vehicle from a non American company. I knew for years that Toyota made a very good truck, but prior to the 2nd Gen 4 doors Toyota simply didn't make anything I could use. They were just too small and underpowered so I drove American made 1/2 tons. I love my Tacoma and it is the perfect balance of power and size for this stage in my life. But if I needed a bigger truck I'd go back to either a Ford or Dodge 1/2 or 3/4 ton. The Tundra just doesn't do anything for me.
