Honestly I know nothing about CB prices or what a quality one would be. Did you run this one in your truck?

Anyone have a mini d2s retrofit that would want to trade for a fx-r retrofit?

I ran it in my ranger (pre tacoma days)
It plugs into a 12v plug so you don't have to hardwire it an it's got a magnetic antenna so no drilling holes I ran the cable through the sliding window.

I'd be careful about your expectations. CBs may reach the listed 7 miles under ideal conditions. More often nearly line of sight under a mile. And that assumes somebody that cares is listening to that channel within range. The CB craze isn't present anymore with everybody monitoring. They are ok in a group to communicate minor changes/jokes/issues.

Ham Radio 2M will be better range, performance and clarity. With more helpful people around. But that gets into licensing and more cost and better antennas.

I do carry a SPOT tracker on many mtn bike rides and some off-road adventures. Satellite Rescue Locator.

Makes sense. Typically in the area I am in, there's a large presence of park rangers and border patrol. A lot of the warnings signs in the area give a emergency channel for CB radios, so that's the only reason I wanna go with a CB. I also do a lot of I10 travel so I figured CB radio couldn't hurt in that aspect either

That seems reasonable. Would that be priced shipped?

I recently picked up one of those cheap Chinese Baofeng UV5R radios off Amazon, they do FRS (walkie talkie), GMRS, and MURS (VHF "race radio") and can be programmed to do some 2m HAM frequencies as well if you've got a license. Apparently a lot of TW members have them for meetups. Not sure how useful it'd be for a true emergency, but they have quite a bit farther range than a CB and if you're within range of a repeater you can talk to people very far away. CB would definitely be more useful on the freeway. I'll probably end up with both eventually...

I don't think I'd even use the magnetic antenna. I'm thinking I'd get a fire stick and brainstorm a way to put it on a swivel so I can hide it away when not in use

Yes, These radio are very capable, it's just that the transmitting wattage is lower, in a pinch ( like SHTF type situations ) these can be modified to put out major wattage and be extremely versatile , these radios are cheap and solid ESPECIALLY for the money . . .

If anyone is looking for an awesome dog, we are trying to adopt out our beagle pitbull mix. Weve tried friends, rescues, and online postings.

Weve met with several potential adopters but nobody was able to committ. Kind of a longshot. But still worth a shot. We wont take her back to the pound.

Shes GREAT with kids. My gf's nephew comes over and will grab her rope toy from her mouth to play fetch.

Let me know. Heres a pic of her.http:// I included the CL ad below for more details. Please spread the word about Campbell, any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

WANTED: 1996 - 2004 Tacoma Bumper, Bumper Guard, Nerf Bars, steps, sliders, etc.

Hey AZ! I've got a 1997 Tacoma Xtracab 4x4 in need of some external accessories. I've got stock chrome bumpers on the front and rear, and I'd like to try something different. At the very least, I need a bumper guard for the front if I can't find a reasonable complete front bumper assy. I love the options available from Relentless Fabrication but I'm not in a position to be spending ~$1K+ at the moment. Let me know if any of you guys have anything laying around you'd like to get rid of! And don't worry about cosmetics; I'm a ninja with a rattle can. Thanks! -Tim in Tempe
