does anyone know if there is a factory heavy 12v lead back there already, or do I have to run one? Speaking of which, are there any good wiring diagrams for the 2015 online?

Welcome to the forum. Probably not much help but if your truck is equipped with factory tow option it should already have a 7 pin plug with all wires run to the back.
Again not sure if you have a dealer installed set up with a hitch and 4 flat connecter but the dealer should be able to tell you.

The factory sticker said the tow package came with the truck. It's a 2015 4 cylinder access cab 4x4 5 sp manual.

Perfect, thanks for the link. It sure looks factory... All the mounting bolts have the pink / blue paint on them, and like I said, the factory sticker said the truck came with it. Any idea if there's more wires run back there or will I have to run the extras myself? Any good wiring diagrams online?

The factory tow package is a 7 pin. Not sure if that's changed, but I just was shopping for an OEM 4 pin harness and none existed. They only carry a 7 pin and that was $150 or so.

Weird... The actual 4 pin receptacle definitely says Toyota molded into the plastic.

Follow the wiring harness for the connector. I would think if aftermarket it would lead you into your taillight mounts, and if factory it should go forward to the cab or engine compartment.

I am looking at adding a factory 7 pin to my 06. There is a factory 4 pin, it should run from the driver kick panel. I think the 7 pin picks up brake and charge capabilities somewhere else.
    Still in the researching phase.
Aftermarket 4pin plugs run up to the taillights and have a seperate "relay" box there.

Weird. I spent days looking for an OEM tow harness and found zero mention of 4 pin availability.

Sandman... Crazy good info, thanks a ton. That means it's factory, yes?

    :) Your welcome. Yessir.

Here's some more, more on topic So looking at both part numbers, it looks like the 4pin connector is about 12" long and has a factory style 'square' plug and the 7pin factory harness plugs in there but also has 2 other plugs. I presume one is from the brake controller and the other for reverse.

You are one helpful dude, sandman. I think I'm gonna take it to a good hitch place close by and have them rig it up, giving them the docs you linked to. I was a pro car stereo installer back in the 80s, but these days I'd rather just pay someone to do it instead of mucking around with it. I need a new hitch anyway, because the Taco receiver is higher than my current hitch allows for. Bummer because it's already got the load distribution receptacles that my trailer uses, but I can't have the thing 6" higher than level

I do what I can. Hope everything goes smoothly with that venture, I don't trust shops to do the work the way I know it should be done. Since you already have the factory 4pin it shouldn't be hard for you to add the 7pin. Sadly I feel that they will disregard the paperwork you bring them and install a generic 4-7pin adapter, which will work but won't be "right".

**Edit: One thing about these trucks is they are pre-wired for a lot of accessories that come in higher models. #PlugandPlay

Also  welcome to the forums. There will be much help, a lot of wallet emptying, a lot of BS, and a lot of jackassery!!

It looks like you have the wiring sorted out....Factory Installed Tow Package normally has the 7 pin plug, tranny cooler for autos, and an oil cooler. It could be a "Port Installed" hitch which is still considered factory, but has a lower tow rating and comes with a 4 prong plug. The main reason for the response was it sounds like you are going to replace the hitch to "lower the receiver". If you do this you will have a boat anchor hanging below your bumper anytime you go off road. Even though you already have a hitch, you would be better off if you sold your current WD Hitch and bought a new one with the proper drop for your trailer. Then the back of your truck is only a "tail dragger" when you are towing. I run a 6" drop hitch on my Tundra most of the time and you would be amazed at how often it drags, or I have to get out and take it off to prevent it from digging in when crossing a simple ditch or entering a steep driveway. Simply my 2 cents worth, but in most cases a drop hitch is a far better option than dropping the whole receiver down. Selling your current hitch and buying a drop receiver may even be cheaper than having the current hitch replaced....

Yeah, didn't mean to give the impression that I'm altering the receiver... I just need a new WD hitch that drops a couple inches. Thanks much for the help y'all.
