Hello! Someone on this forum will know the answer to this, I'll bet. I notice a very light "click", kind of like a switch, sometimes when engaging / disengaging the clutch. It's coming from outside under the truck and tonight I noticed it pulling in the garage. I have a 2.7, manual. Still getting used to this truck and the hydraulic clutch is way different than my 1990 Toyota truck. It has 8,000 miles and getting smoother every day now; I think I'm going to love this truck and it's been a blast reading this forum.

Anyway, has anyone heard that clicking when feathering the clutch and have an idea what it could be? I'm just curious really.

The only switch that I know associated with the clutch is the one that indicates the pedal is depressed for the Clutch Start Circuit. This switch feeds the ECU and if not depressed disables the start relay.

Off topic but with a response like that you may have my answer. How do I add a switch to the circuit as an aftermarket clutch start override if you will. Sorry OP :threadjacked:

It's all good - thanks for the reply.
maybe the clutch start switch is what I hear. (I thought it was under the truck outside the cab.)

Does it sound mechanical or electric? These clutches on these aren't exactly smooth lol.

I've got a 4.0 with 135k, and I can audibly hear my gears engage. (Entirely normal I hope.)

The garage thing is just because you're in a box.

I heard that click once, then the start switch broke. The noise could also be the release bearing.

I hear the gear changes rather loud in my 5 speed at 196k and I too hope it is normal. I thought it was because of low trans oil but quickly learned that was not the case as it was full to the fill plug.
