The other day I was doing a walk around on my truck, just admiring it, nothing new. I noticed that my rear passenger wheel/tire sticks out about an inch further than my rear driver side wheel. I'll be taking it into toyota tomorrow afternoon sometime since I bought the truck there a year ago, and they installed the wheels/tires/lift about a month ago. I'm really shocked that I took me this long to notice.

Here's some pics, what do you all think? I'm really worried the frame or something is crooked. Maybe they just sold me the wrong wheel.... Thoughts? Anything specific I should tell them at the shop?

Possible the wheels have different backspacing, but the rear axle could have also shifted to one side.

Most likely the bed is crooked, it even looks like the offset is different at the bumper ends in your photos.

So if the axle is shifted, how bad is that? And how expensive to get fixed?

Same question but for the crooked bed?

Is it likely to just be a cosmetic issue or could it damage anything?

I agree with landphil. It looks like your bed is shifted.

I'm gonna go with the bed is crooked, should be a simple fix of loosening the bed bolts, centering the bed, and re-torquing the bolts.

The only damage that could occur would be the cab contacting the bed when the frame flexes but I don't think it's likely to happen.

So next question, should I expect toyota to fix this for me? Like I said, bought the truck used from them about a year ago. No accidents or bumps or anything of that nature since I bought it. They do all my service and work (so far). If it's a major issue I'm going to be pissed, if it's just a quick fix then I'll have no issue paying for it. Guess it's just my fault for not noticing earlier...?

There is a chance the dealer would fix it for free, but if they didn't note it during the pre-sale inspection then they may try to blame it on you.

I don't think its the bed. Could be when the lift was done. My 2011 was like that 3/4" out. I just loosened the u-bolts and have someone push one side in while I tightened the u-bolts.

It was never noted. When I bought the truck it had two different colored trd sport bedside decals...one was white (passenger), the other was the correct one, black and red. Now I'm thinking the truck was in an accident and they never told me about it.

The axle pads have holes for the 'spring center bolt' that should center the axle. Loosening the ubolts and pushing on the axle shouldn't do anything unless you didn't get the bolt in the hole.

Bolts were in but there's still some wiggle room in there. Mine moved half an inch in.

    Yes
It can't be the bed a second gen bed with all 6 bolts in it can't possibly be that far off, the front bolt perches even have pegs that seat in the perches.

It's not a u-bolt issue unless both leaf pin bolts were completely missed which would be an amazing fubar. Sandman is correct.

The most likely cause when you see this on any truck is that the rear leaf spring hangars on the frame are bent from a collision or for sliding sideways into a curb. I have down that to my own trucks twice in collisions, truck frames and leaf hangars bend soooo easy. Since the OP mentioned suspicion of body work I'm going to place my bet there...

OP an old school way to check besides a visual inspection is to wet down your driveway or street and drive through the water in a straight line then get out and look at the wet tracks you leave. If your front and rear tires do not track exactly on top of each other...your hangars or frame are tweaked.

Lift the rear end and let your axle hang down. See if it's even then.

A quick check is to look at the gap where the bed meets the cab on each side. Also, crawl under the back of the truck and measure from the frame at the rear spring hanger to the body on each side. Doesn's take much of a shift to make things way out of whack. If it is out, check the bed bolts as they can come loose, Loosen things up, align the bed, tighten it back up and all should be good. If the bed is square, could be the frame or wheel offset...not sure on that one.

My guess...different offset rear wheels or a wheel spacer on one wheel and not the other.

Do this, it worked for me. A small shift of the bed could make your wheels look just like that. I had the exact same problem

My '12 Sport did the same thing, no accidents. Stock wheels, aftermarket wheels. Before lift and after lift. Mine wasn't as bad as the OP's. but it was there, never noticed it unless outside the truck looking from the back. Rode straight, didn't ware tires out funny, Just the passenger side stuck out about a half inch more than the drivers side.
