Sooooo today was the install day for my Icon stuff, didn't make it very far. Ended up rounding off the castle nut holding the spindle to the upper control arm.....

Any advice other than cut it off? Plus only got a hacksaw....

Lol, apparently for everybody but me.

Think I'm at the point where if I don't stop there is going to be a nice new foot shaped dent in the passenger door. Going to button everything back up.

Anyone want to buy a Icon stage 4 suspension with Dakars, super bumps and extended brake lines?

You could just cut off as you are gonna be using the icon UCAs correct??

Would be very tempting to buy some parts off you..

I'm done for the day, safer. Won't have time again for a couple weeks so I'm going to give 4wheel a call and see what they want to install everything. If it's more than I want to pay, got a feeling it will be, then I will give it another go when I have time. Give me time to pick up a sawzall so I don't have to cut it by hand.

If it does get to the point where I do say F it and decide to turn my Tacoma into a submarine, I will let you guys know.

I got an angle grinder with metal bit that would take 1 min to cut off...

More than enough guys to give you a hand, or we also do have a Hawaii Kai, Ewa, Kailua, and Wahiawa TW shops...

Also if the shops are to expensive/I'm too broke, I will re-attempt on the weekend of the 1st. If that falls through, won't have time again until the weekend of the 21st. Either way, I will make sure I have enough beer, bbq and hugs if folks want to come over and assist.

4wheel is notorious for messing stuff up.

that's a solid couple hours of work.

how'd you round the castle nut? open-end wrench?

Thanks. I hear 4wheel is down towards the bottoms of most lists. They are close to me and only shop I've been too before to buy stuff. Honestly not sure where any of the other shops are, so figured I would give them a call. I'm a car guy and have only had the truck a couple months, still kind of getting used to everything.

Castle nut....well I think this truck hates me. Been working on cars for a long time and have had things break but haven't broken anything. Not so with this thing... I've done coil overs on 9 of my past cars without any hiccups. Truck...can't even get a damn castle nut off.

Pre-soaked it with PB Blaster then started off open end wrench when I realized it was on snug, moved to a box which is when it started to round off. Managed to get a socket on over the rounded corners, but nothing, vice grips, a mallet, nothing, even pulled out the torch but didn't use it. With the way things were going I would have set the truck on fire.

Maybe there is something about truck suspension geometry that I don't understand yet...but I stick with the original, the truck hates me.

    Thanks for the offer.

I managed to pound a socket on over the rounded nut but I think by then it was too far gone. After that and the vice grips it looks like someone went at it with a hammer and chisel....

I think cutting it off is the only answer now.
