If it isn't, I would be surprised. It has the skewp, all the color matched trim, had the sport wheels and upgraded jbl stereo. Only thing I'm not sure of is the seats because they are aftermarket leather seats. I'll take a look at that thread though, good suggestion.

Well, brought it to toyota this morning. Tech looked at it for a while, confirmed that wheels were all the same. We tossed around the idea of body damage, but then I told him about the bed possibly being misaligned and after checking he said it looked like that's what it is. They are fixing it today.

Here's my question for you all. I feel like they should cover the cost. I bought the truck from them a year ago and they said "if something's not right, we'll make it right." There's no way I did anything to cause that, it had to be that way when I bought it. What do you all think?

Did you ask why the stickers on the bedsides don't match? Bolts can be loosened and alignments fixed, but I'd still want to know if it was damaged and never disclosed. Signs point to "likely."

A good dealer might fix it for free, but after a year of owning the truck I would be surprised. Maybe if you took it back within the first few weeks.
If they make you pay for it I can't imagine it being too expensive though.

I agree, but the only person who might know would be the owner or sales manager, even then I doubt they would disclose any info since it's been so long. They'd probably just claim ignorance.

Repairs aren't always reported, so Carfax is fairly irrelevant and pointless.

How about bringing in in for a 4 wheel alignment?? At least you'll know it tracks right and tread wears ok after the lineup ...

He said he was the one who aligned it and they were all good. It doesn't feel like it's correct though. Pulls to the right. I'll probably take it somewhere else tomorrow if I have time to have it checked...would tire shops like les schwab or Big O be a better place to go for the alignment check instead of the dealership?

Not to mention HIGHLY inaccurate. I've personally owned and inspected 2 vehicles recently that had clean carfax reports that were in accidents. One was a pretty major front end impact that was poorly repaired. Carfax is garbage. To be used as a VERY loose reference and not worth paying for.

The mismatched stickers is what's causing the "speculation".

While they are kind of useless for accident info, while shopping for a new truck I was able to quickly rule out a bunch of vehicles by looking at the vehicle registration history. Anything from the east coast or any state that uses salt was immediately taken of the list of possible purchases. My previous vehicle (2005 4runner) came from the east cost and was rusty as hell. I'll never go through that bs again.

In the end, I went with a new truck, but the carfax is a useful tool to have, especially when a dealer has already paid for it. Even with the accident reporting, you can use it as a tool. If one shows up, you know that at least that happened and can move along, just don't put any faith in the "clean" ones. I have a motorcycle that has a clean title and clean carfax and it was a bank repo and was totalled when I picked it up. If it wasn't for the odometer disclosure, it would appear as a 100% clean vehicle on the title and carfax.

So basically you agree CarFax has little to do with factual history and is mostly garbage? Your whole post basically said that if CarFax has a report then you can write a vehicle off, maybe, but if it is a clean report then it might be false?

So it's good only for saying a car is damaged? Seems pretty useless even by your description.

I'm saying it is useful for more than the damage report.

My whole post basically said you can use it to rule out vehicles with issues, but not to guarantee that a vehicle doesn't have issues. Without some "factual history" like accidents or registration history, you couldn't use it to rule out vehicles.
