Well, I scheduled my appointment to have my radiator flush to find out that my truck is getting its rear leaf replaced under the September Recall. If you followed my thread about my recent purchase of the Bilsteins 5100 and some sport coils, you found out that my truck has the 3 leaf pack. I even checked the Toyota website concerning recalls and it says "Remedy not available." So I guess some dealerships are actively upgrading the leaf springs! Considering my truck doesn't even have the TSB and has over 100k miles, I'm pretty excited about the upgrade. I'll make another post concerning the ride once I get them installed on Wednesday. Check your local dealership to find out if you can get your replacement!

With a new leaf pack and new coils/shocks you may be able to go to 1.75.

I know right! I just called to schedule the radiator flush and found that out. Now should I place my shocks at 1.75?

    Too few to list.
I'm surprise your dealer has the parts. Per Toyota's info, they are "preparing to remedy the issue". We have an 09 still waiting for this remedy since January of this year. Per the dealer, Toyota has not yet issue the remedy for them to even order the parts.

Most with a 4 leaf pack are able to set at 1.75 and be okay.

I don't want to say you'll absolutely be fine because every truck is different. But again, most are good with 1.75.

That'd be what I try, you'll have to weigh the difference in ride quality by preloading that high compared to .85.

The representative I spoke to said that the truck is covered under the recall. I don't know if it is the rear TSB springs or the recall. I figured the TSB was over and done with?

Alright, I'll measure once they are installed and determine the best option. I just don't want it to be nose high again. I would rather maintain a slight rake.

I had my 2009 set at 1.75" with the TSB pack and it was dead even.

I got 1.5" of lift with the .85 setting. So I don't talk in absolutes involving preload. ;)

As I said, most with TSB leafs are at 1.75. That's as much confirmation as I'm willing to lend being that every truck is different and without measuring the truck, there is no right answer. Just a majority one, and that doesn't cover everybody.

I just had my leafs replaced with the frame swap, and I'm nose high by 1/2" @ 1.75".

Yeah that's what I'm trying to avoid. I'm going to take some measurements and see how much room I got. I'd rather have a rake over nose high. My headlights are aiming at the sky as it is right now lol

I would maintain rake if at all possible if you ever haul or tow, even if all your bed sees is a few hundred pounds of camping gear.

A lowered ass end makes night driving pretty unsafe for oncoming traffic who are getting a face full of your headlight beams. Of course it doesn't directly harm you, but for an oncoming driver who may already have impaired vision before being blinded by your lights it may be a dangerous situation, one I would hope anybody would willingly and purposely avoid.

Here's my low beams lighting up a Corolla at 20-30 yards, with my rear .5-1" lower than the front (I don't recall specifically).

That's for sure. I want to be as safe as possible. As for towing/hauling, at most is a 100 pounds in the bed. I rarely will pull a bass boat whenever we go out, but that's at most once or twice a year.

Well they scheduled to get mine replaced, mine aren't broken. Maybe my dealer has a different view on the situation.

Glad you got them replaced. The 4 leafs aren't much of an upgrade.

I switched from my 4 leaf Tsb to all pro expo and that is what I call an upgrade.

Oh yeah I'm not saying that the new leafs will be an overhaul, but for my on road usage I believe it will serve its purpose. It beats spending 300+ on a new leaf pack for just on road usage with very little off-road.

Yes, an improvement for sure . I have a camper shell, arb fridge , 100lbs of tools so it took a toll on my 4 leaf! Free is always good!
