I stopped using sylvania bulbs cause they lasted a year tops.

I buy Hella bulbs from Amazon and they are bright as hell and have lasted 2+ years so far.

I use the X-treme Visions in a Ford E-150. Better throw than stock, brighter than stock, and seemingly more even coverage in the center. I do a lot of nighttime rural driving with the van, and with the stock bulbs I felt the need to have highbeams on whenever there were no cars. With the X-treme Visions, highbeams don't seem necessary most of the time.

I found these Philips 2003 bulbs and brought them home. now i just realized it says on the box 67/60w. but the actual bulb base says 60/55. can I still use these on my 2014?

does it matter if the bulb says 60/55 vs 55/60?

i returned the second set of scuffed sylvanias and came home with Philips VisionPlus. the packaging says 60% more light. they are in the same line of bulbs that has the Philips X-tremeVisions (100 or 130% more light). the bulbs I got are one step below the Xtremevisions and one step above the Visions. I didn't want the coated tip on the end (X-tremeVision) and the standard option is simply called Vision (+30%).

surprisingly the VisionPlus look nearly identical to the silverstar ultras on the wall of the garage, but very slightly more orange/yellow. I'd still call it a very white light (it's nowhere near yellow/orange, just a little "less white" than the silverstar). the first photo is the Silverstar ultra and the second photo is the VisionPlus. image.jpg image.jpg

here is a different camera exposure. again, first photo is silverstar ultra, second photo is VisionPlus. the color temp difference is more visible here.

At that range it will all look similar, its over the spread you will see a difference

I am not a fan of that kelvin color but looking forward to thoughts on throw and output on the road.

Clearly there is a color difference at this range. I'll report back after dark. Not going to get out of town tonight, but I will at least get it outside after dark. I'm really hoping for better side illumination than the ultras provided. I really think that had to do with the dark blue tip (imagining that portion of the bulb hitting the top/sides of the reflector bowl rather than the back). The ultra vs non ultra difference in side illumination was stunning to me.

Here's a couple shots of my Ultras throw. Low beams, no fogs.

I do prefer the whiter light. but I drive in a wide range of weather conditions, so I wonder if a little more yellow would be better. but I also wonder if it really makes much difference when you get as white as all of these bulbs are now days.
