What's up with toyota being this secretive?

I would really like to see some of these "new" configuration's. Although it is not for me, I would really like to see this dclbor. I think this will be a popular model with urban home owners.

Actually, not sure what other ones have not been seen. Sr5's?

They'll start rolling in from Mejico in a little over a month. We've waited this long, whats 45 more days? I would rather see it in person than pics anyway.

You mean the 4x2 DCLBO/R? What a waste a money. It's sad they are making those at 15:1 4x2 to 4x4. The Sport costs less and has a hood scoop and fancy looking wheels. It will sell more for street driving around here. Makes me sad people just want that rear sticker

The 4x4 O/R will not be popular with urban home owners. The 4x2 Sport and 4x2 O/R will be popular with them. The O/R 4x4 costs 3595 more than the 4x2.

There's going to be a 2WD DCLB O/R? I thought it was only a 4x4, and the SR5 long bed. Dammit, if that's the case now I'm really confused about what I want.

You assume they don't sell Tacoma's where 4x4 is nice, like anywhere where it snows?

Up here it's hard to even find a 2WD truck. With the amount of sand used instead of road salt now 2WD is just plain annoying in town once the snow gets packed down and ice forms.

There is supposed to be a media event for the Tacoma sometime in August. I'd expect more pictures out of that.

I have the paper in front of me. The 4x2 says Double Cab O/R so it must be a short bed.
There is a 4x2 DCLB in Sport

The only urban areas we have are desert where 99% of roads are paved. Those people buy the O/R and Sport in 4x2. We have mountains but most of them don't drive Tacomas. It's either SUV or large trucks

Yes, but you put all urban areas together in one comment. That paper that's come out is for the west region, correct? It makes sense to me, if that region covers Oregon and Washington state, that the 4x4 will sell well in urban area's there where snow is common.

Unless the sheet you have is just of LA, in which case they are just selling the 4x4 because profit is likely a bit better and people seem to like having the switch just in case.

There aren't enough 4x4s coming here, then.

Made in both. The Mexican plant has won a few quality awards.

As much as 'mericuh likes to talk about buying American there isn't much difference between where things are built and how long they last if the quality control is done properly. VW has a plant in Mexico that spits out absolute shit but there hasn't been any complaints that I can find that are tied to one Tacoma plant or the other.

Lets not railroad a thread with one of the Mexico VS Texas builts again. But yes, Double cab V6s have been built in both Mexico and Texas/Cali since 2005. Access cabs, reg cabs and 4 cylinder DCs are only built in Texas. I assume the 3rd gens will be the same. If I get a 3rd gen there's no way I'm getting a Mexican one.

This. But, I'm guessing I am not alone in wishing for a Japan built Tacoma.

If more things were made in America then we wouldn't be able to go to Walmart to load up a shopping cart full with crap we don't need for only $200.

vin code starts with 4=texas, 5=mexico for Tacoma's.

if you want a japan built exclusive Toyota, look at a 4runner or Land Cruiser.

some Rav4 are still made in japan or most of the lexus vehicles (some are made in Canada).

edit : I know when we bought our 2009 SE v6 Rav4, I made sure it started with "J". our 12 Tacoma starts with "4" and my 4runner is only made in japan in Toyota #1 (best) plant worldwide, Tahara. :)
