And this thread is officially about Mexican Tacoma bashing now :D.

Which always happens. It's funny to because I have yet to find a single thread that provides any sort of link between a common Tacoma issue and where the truck was made.

    :notsure:

For the Annual J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Survey (IQS) of 2008, TMMBC was awarded the Gold Plant award for Quality among all North and South American automotive manufacturing plants: http://businesscenter.jdpower.com/news/pressrelease.aspx?ID=2008063

The plant has also won a few Toyota energy and efficiency awards. My slow as ass internet today isn't helping me source that at the moment though. Prove to me that significantly more Tacoma's fail from the Mexico line than the line in Texas or let this thread get back on track.

Lets get some facts in this thread at least.

VIN starting in 3 = Mexico built, not 5. 5 is USA built. Either California built earlier or Texas built in more recent years.

No 2nd gen Tacoma has a VIN starting with 4. Go check your Tacoma and see.

But I agree, the fact that my 94 is made in Japan is mucho bueno!

yep your right. I must have mixed up the 4 from the camry since 4=USA and 5=USA and 3=Mexico, 2=Canada.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the amount of pictures out for the 3rd gen?

Ive had a texas built and mexico built tacoma, there is no difference in QDR, the assembly process, quality control, etc are the same at both plants, its still run and owned by Toyota.

Knew there was a reason I like my access cabs. Besides the fact the double is too long to fit in my garage.;)

Well.... I got an education. Good to know about Vin codes. Still want to see a dclbor. I'm thinking they will be rear bumper color matched, but wondering about flares. I think sr5, and access cabs may be the only chrome rear bumpers left.
