I would highly recommend... I would ask someone at your Toyota dealer (Manager?) or even call Toyota directly..... about the warranty on the frame after having the protective coating put on it. From what I've heard (from various peeps), the coating only lasts about 5 years. What happens after that??

Does this 'undercoating' extend the frame warranty for another xx years?? Say for instance...in 4 years, you find some soft spots & holes (they rust from the inside out). If it fails a frame inspection at that point, will they replace your frame for free?

I'd get that IN WRITING - especially if you plan on keeping the truck long term.

On a side note, I did ask if I could be put in a truck for a loaner if necessary and they said no problem. That's good to hear as I have no plans to drive a Rav4 or Camry for months.

It all depends how you look at it.

Not to make you feel bad, or anything, but with the choice of having a brand new frame, with all associated parts, vs. having the sauce slathered all over the underside of a rusty frame, I think your getting the short end of the stick.

On the bright side, I do think you get an extended warranty on the existing frame though. Definitely something to ask the dealer about, and if possible get it in writing.

Nice as this is what I've been told is going to happen in my case. I didn't mention it earlier, but my leafsprings were broken as well.

Just brought my 06 trd in for all the recalls. The truck is near excellent condition. I've wire brushed and spray bombed the frame at least twice and the only rust I'd find was around the spring perches, control arms and various other welded parts. I was shocked and pleased when I got the call saying it failed. Only downside is theyd charge 350 to put the lift back on and obviously no new springs. So it's going back to stock

Nice to see some of you are getting your frames done and getting your trucks back.
I've been waiting since May 2014 for this...
Truck was inspected twice, December 2014 was when they actually "ordered" the frame..
Called the dealer back in May 2015 and was told the frame was "shipping" May 1st... It's now July 13th.. Still no frame...I guess the frame is on a horse drawn cart making its way from...somewhere...

I was told that the frames were built in California and could take 6 months to get it

It doesn't make sense that after 6 months they can't even tell you when your frame will be ready. Just unbelievable.

The frames are made in Mexico.

Mine arrived in 3 months. There are other limitations that dealerships have. Including not wanting all of their bays filled up with frame swaps.

Cashflow is probably a major factor so they can't start turning down regular work.

The dealer replaced my leaf springs and let me take the truck while I wait for the frame to arrive.

    Ah
one leaf on Mine broke but truck is already for frame getting swapped, so I am wondering if they are going to put back 3 leaf setup there until the real fix comes in.
Did you got actuall fix or temporary leafs until real fix?

I think it may depend on Model.
I have DCLB so thats not the very popular combination around. My truck is already at the dealer getting disassembled, and getting ready for a frame and parts that should arrive in next couple days.
Currently I am in rental, which is very nice but not the same as my truck.

Add me to the list for a new frame. Took it in today to have the frame sprayed (last month when they replaced the springs told me the frame pasted inspection, schedule a time to have the frame sprayed. I scheduled the appointment for today and before they sprayed they re-inspected it and it failed. That was the last thing I wanted. The hole can't be too big, they said I could continue to use the truck. They ordered the frame, said I will be notified in a few weeks to bring it back in. They said they would only need a couple of days to swap the frames out. Sounds like they have a pipeline for frames. They said they have done quite a few of these. So I guess we will see. I can envision many trips back to have the problems worked out of this frame replacement. The next thing will be the list of parts that they say will need replaced.
Like I said not looking forward to this.

Between getting a new frame, with all associated parts, and getting that nasty mess, that won't last very long, and is applied over a surface that I highly doubt is prepped properly, you definitely got the better deal.

I got mine back a week ago, and it drives like a new truck.

Brought mine in on April 21st 2015 - deemed it un-drivable. It's been almost 3 months and they are telling me another 6 months. Gotta say, I'm not upset about getting a new frame + all the parts, however 9 MONTHS and it could be more!! I've complained to just about everyone in corporate and they don't give a sh*t.
Anyone get lucky and have Toyota buy the truck back for over KBB suggested price? I've heard they've done this in the past, but they are giving me the stiff arm. If you ask me, they should do anything and everything for the customer. I didn't pay 30k to have my truck taken back...but that's just my opinion.

How busy is the dealership you took it to? Have they got 20 trucks in line ahead of yours?
