Love the wide-angle lense. Shows the Tacoma in better detail.

Hmm, I really like the lipped spoilers on trucks. Not to mention how that extra bowing increases the size of the top of the tail gate which means when idiots run into it with a forklift the tailgate tends to fair better. It's all a matter of opinion.

Here are some pics from the Tacoma Tour that showed up today in Cochrane, just outside of Calgary. Was a few Toyota's in the parking lot but overall there was not a lot of people checking out the new truck. When it closed up at end of day a big semi came to pick up the truck. The Tacoma was not being driven cross country.

Access to the truck was easy but of course you could not start or test drive it. My overall impressions are the followings:

Center console and glove box - slightly smaller than the previous generation
Plastics on dash - slightly better than previous generation but barely noticeable jump in quality. The orange trim might look dated pretty quick.
Plastics on door - less cloth fabric and more of a rubbery fabric on door linings
Knobs - different looking but about the same quality as the previous generation
Seating position and space - same as previous edition (both front and back) and as noted, no power seats
Seat Fabric - I was in the TRD Sport. The seats are a jump in quality from my 2010 SR5 (so they should be) but I don't think they are better than by brother in laws 2012 TRD Sport. Frankly I would say they are slightly worst in comfort and the fabric quality is slightly worst too (first impression) in what I suspect is their long term durability. The fabric seems of the type that I think could collect and hold a lot of lint and be a PITA to clean (much in my wife's 2006 Accord - if you own one of those vehicles you know what I mean)
Interior Space - might be an optical illusion but I think there may be a bit more space in the front seat of the trunk because the dash console does not seem to extend as far into the cabin of the truck.
Exterior - looks like an updated 2nd gen. Not much of a change. Front end (with the exception of the grill) does not look too bad. The grill - well all I can say I hope there is some aftermarket ones out there soon. Not sure what Toyota was thinking....

I do like the red stitching on the seat unless that's a camera angle distortion of the lighting?

It's a shame the center console compartment capacity "looks" smaller then our 2nd gen :( but it does have a power plug in it..... finally

I didn't take measurements but to me it looked smaller. The glove box certainly was smaller.

I can't remember the colour of the stitching but it would make sense for it to be red considering the accent colours on the dash and the colour of the truck

I took some pictures are well. Here are a few things I noticed:

Engine bay: Seemed like there is a lot more room in the bay and the engine is farther back.
Bumper: Absolutely tons of room in the front bumper to play with
Center console: Smaller, includes 12 volt plug in. Opens from the front and uses a different softer plastic
Interior: Rear seats exactly the same. Even the storage bins are the same. Front seats do appear to have more room, almost as if the front console is smaller and the dash is tilted more towards the front. Huge improvement on the materials used in the truck. The seat fabric is nice IMHO, but probably not as stain resistant as the current TRD offering.
Sunroof: Seems like there is still plenty of head room
Tailgate: Extremely overbuild compared to the 2nd Gen. The tailgate feels like one off a full sized truck. There must be a balance system in the gate because it doesn't slam down but also doesn't feel like a Colorado air guided gate.
Rear Diff on TRD Sport: Exact same. Appears the angles may of been changed though. The suspension mounts seemed the same but the shocks have changed.
Front Suspension: Again, the mounts are the same but it looks like a different design from bilistein.
Front Air Dam: 8 screws, all accessible to make it easy to remove.
Rear Bumper: Trailer wires and plugs all moved up into the frame and bumper.

Great post sterdog. Filled in much of the gaps.

I know I'm outvoted from other people who have seen the truck but I don't see a huge improvement in the interior quality at least as it relates to the plastics. For example the plastics around the shifter and emergency brake is really hard and cheap feeling almost like out of an old frontier. The layout does seem better though but not amazing
