Actually just read a review on one
    http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/20...-review-ruger-american-ranch-rifle-in-300blk/

Im pretty impressed. Been looking at a bolt gun in 300blk and this might be what i go with.

At ~350 bucks the ranch rifles are way cheaper than an AR. At 6lbs it beats AR's in weight too (for all but the lightest of the light...which would cost way more)

I love AR's and I love my bolt guns. Saying one is better than the other in the same caliber is just silly

Cali is such a screwed up state when it comes to firearms. I wanted to bring a couple of mine when i was there for 8.5 month for work. Ended up saying screw it cause of all the loop holes and shit to be "legal". Just went to a range and rented a gun every now and then instead.

But for any questions on CA laws....calguns.net youll get your answers there

I haven't seen a ranch rifle for $350 in years. Did the price drop recently?

    I've read good things.
I'm tempted to get a mossberg MVP patrol in 556 and see if I could get it rebarreled to 300 BLK so I have the capability to use AR mags.

@SGTCap Why not have a bolt and semi-auto in the same caliber?

Bolt guns are a lot quieter suppressed. I've already built a 700 in BLK, but it's a heavy rig. I'd like a light walking-around rifle but I was something reliable and the Model 7 from AAC is gone now and never was dead reliable from what I read. I think you might be thinking of the Mini 14?

I just did a super fast look on gunbroker and went based on the TTAG review. It does appear sub 400 is a better mark than sub 350.

Even at 450-500 it has my interest. Seeing as i was looking at the LRI CR-MOD1 which is WAYYYYYYY more lol.

I think Cap was thinking Mini-14 or Mini-30 ranch rifle, when I meant American Ranch rifle. Ruger has used the term Ranch for variants of both models. I agree the Mini-14 is a niche rifle and not one I would pick up over an AR.

    Three different guns:

American Ranch rifle = bolt gun 5.56 & 300BLK, no iron sights
    Ranch Rifle = semi-auto, aka Mini-14 .223, Mini-30 7.62x39, and AC-556(select fire Mini-14)
Gunsite Scout = bolt gun 5.56 and .308, iron sights, bigger mags

    Looking for G43 holster suggestions

I prefer appendix carry, but open to suggestions. Needs to be IWB, don't want any retention systems other than friction

Milt Sparks already has a few options, though there's a little wait.

A wait is fine for the right holster. I'm just starting shopping and I haven't put enough rounds down range thru it yet to consider carrying it. 42 is still doing that job until I fully trust the gun, and find the right holster/carry

This was from April, personally I'd check out the SS-2 or "Summer Special 2".

JM Custom Kydex...for AIWB or IWB. Simply amazing.

I'm still partial to Raven Concealment Systems for OWB.
