What would it do for me if I installed a Toyota Trd cold air intake on my 2008 off road tacoma? I have the trd cat back exhaust. I have never really talked to anyone who has one before.

It will give about 3 more hp, alot more noise, and be not 50 state legal.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Give you a couple ponies, sound a little louder, a little quicker throttle response and drain about $350 out of your wallet.

By removing the OEM intake, and installing the TRD one, you are ommitting the Charcoal filter. This is an emission "Device", and you could fail a test if the guy doing the inspection knew what to look for.

There are several people with one form of CAI or another. If you decide to get on I would suggest AFE. Same "benefits" only cheaper.

The people that do the inspections here in NC typically just look at your vehicle and pass you. Sometimes they actually hook it up to a computer, or even start it up and actually do the test, but very rarely.

I just put mine in last weekend. I like it. It sounds throatier and it seems like the car had a little better pick up, esp when WOT. I live in CA and will burn the emissions bridge when I get there. Could always just switch back to stock for the smog check.

If you want one you can get one brand new now for $250 shipped. See this thread for instructions:

It says that he does not have any more of these for sale.... Has anyone asked him if he will be getting any more in in the coming weeks?
