Why does the 2015 non-SR5 Taco have no door Tacoma script?

Just bought one... Absolutely nothing on the truck except Toyota Tacoma on lower left of tailgate. It's a 4x4. Just wondering... are they running out of parts on purpose for the 2016 redo?

 

Cost saving. Simple as that. Just like the new Tacoma's no longer have the temperature and compass.

Just pulled up a random base model new one and there are no 4x4 markings except for on the mud flaps, so it's not a defect.

 

I stand corrected. Sorry not as familiar with the base models.

 

If you're wondering about the badges on the lower-RIGHT of the tailgate being "missing"... there aren't. There just aren't any applicable for that model to apply.

The lower right corner of the tailgate normally gets "SR5" or "V6" or both. That is all.

This is consistent with the way its been since all the way back to 2005.

 

Thanks. I was more wondering about the driver and passenger door, doesn't say Tacoma on them. Through the input here I now know that it's a base model so no Tacoma on doors (which still seems like a weird marketing thing... you'd think Toyota would want to advertise the model). I didn't even know it was a base model or what a base model is until I posted this question... I just went to the dealer, saw one I liked, and bought it

 

Horstuff - I'm beginning to think that badges are put on at the dealer. I have a 2015
SR DCSB V6 4X4. It came with no door badges but a full set of Toyota
Tacoma, V6 4X4 badges on the tailgate. I took them all off because I thought it
looked cleaner. It has 4X4 on the mud flaps.
Don't know what year the red Taco is above, but it has black wheel cladding and
a black rear bumper - which for a couple of years was the signature of an SR.

The 2015 SR has color keyed bumpers and the grille surround matches the
sheet metal color as well. Also the 2015 SR comes with black wheels and chrome lug nuts.
correction - 2014 SR also came with black wheels (just checked the 2014 sales book).

I spotted one other late model SR in the last six months and it
had Tacoma badges on the doors.

After 2011, the TRD packages only had V6 in the lower right hand corner of the tailgate.

 

Really? But it still had Toyota Tacoma in the lower left of the tailgate right?
I suppose keeping us confused with model year spotting features helps
keep the value of the Taco up, but it would be nice to guess close to the year
of the Tacos I park next to.

 

There is no 4x4 badge its only on the rear mudflaps regardless of model. Though it is sort of odd that there is a Prerunner badge but no 4x4 badge go figure. The work Tacoma's at my job do not have 4x4 badges and they came from a Tampa, FL dealer my truck has V6 and SR5 and no 4x4 badges truck came from a lot in IL(bought from KY dealer) wonder if they put the padges on at dealer or not.

Another thing I find odd why put SR5 on a TRD? Clearly TRD trumps SR5 yet every TRD I have seen has the SR5 badge. Seems like it could be dealer but still to put SR5 on the TRD is odd its not as if you buy both an SR5 package and TRD. Its like "yeah baby TRD better than an SR5 just so you know". I should get a badge that says Base and another that says SR then I can say "yeah this truck trumps Base and SR hense the 5". Dose explain why TRD is on the sides because after three words in a row most attention spans end.

 

I have a base model 2012 and it's the same. Toyota Tacoma on the tailgate and 4X4 on the mud flaps.

I bought a 2015 TRD Off-Road on June 30th in Canada. It has "Tacoma" badges on the doors, "Toyota Tacoma" bottom left tailgate and "V6" bottom right tailgate. TRD Off-Road stickers bedside as well.

 

My '14 Off-Road PreRunner does not have SR5 soooooo ....

 

The 2015 Base DCSB 4x4 (Non SR5. Non SR. Non TRD. Non anything.) that I am looking at DOES have TACOMA badges on the front doors.

left Tailgate says:
TOYOTA
TACOMA

Right Tailgate says:
V6

It has no 4x4 badges other than the mud flaps.

 

My 2015 Base 4 cyl Access Cab 4x4 is just like Lomez' (minus the V6). Tacoma badges on the doors. I bought it in late April

 

?? WTH? Mine is a 2015 Base Access Cab 4X4 4 cyl also... why would yours have Tacoma on the doors and not mine? They're the same truck

 

The SR5 badge on the tailgate is deleted from TRD models from 2011 onwards. Someone from Toyota marketing finally figured this out after 5 years...
