See, the problem with your "scientific theory" is that it is just that. A theory. Both sides have just that, theories. As much as they claim, they can't prove that theirs is true. For instance, wasn't the north pole supposed to be ice free by the year 2015, according to SCIENCE and Al "I save the planet" Gore? Or the polar bear near extinct, drowned in vast oceans of the north. The list could go on and on, but it will just show, that you can't possibly prove something, as scientific as it may seem.

You are more than welcome to call everybody "naysayers", but it doesn't do away with the fact, that there is a HUGE amount of credible scientists who DON'T believe in man made climate change. Which they support with their own "theory".

 

I love Theories till they cost me $$ or turn into a religion.

Interesting read and a cool site. I don't understand how some people can debate that. Climate change isn't happening there is so much supporting evidence. It isn't as extreme as some people try to make it seem and we really know very little about it. It's happening nonetheless.

Take from it what you will. 2014 was the 25th warmest season observed since nationwide recording began in 1948.

The long term temperature trend 1948-2014 graph shows an upward trend. Rise of 1.6C over 67 years. 1.6C does not seem like a lot but it does not take much to make a change. Especially in the arctic during the summer months. Permafrost goes from staying frozen year round to thawing in the summer. That is not so good for the people that live and try to work there to extract natural resources. This is a game of decades not months/years.

Same thing is happening in BC, and AB in western Canada. Abnormally low snow pack combined with extreme summer temps with little too no summer rain precipitation.

 

Data isn't theory

Data from multiple disciplines of science all point toward the conclusion that humans are influencing the climate , and the world as a whole is warming resulting in a bunch of changes to weather patterns etc .

If some predictions as to the results of the warming haven't panned out exactly the way some thought does not erase the underlying conclusion that a warming trend exists .

Your suggestion that there is some equitable split in the scientific community over whether or not man made climate change is happening is false , consensus is actually about 97%

The world didn't begin in 1948, so do consider that. Who's to say what is 'normal' for the earth... Maybe the weather you experince today isn't normal for you... but because it is different doesn't mean it is broken... it is just different.

The longer back you show, the more 'normal' this weather and today's temeratures are. We still cannot change the climate, the climate will change with or without you!

Science is observations... I have told you my observations... that the sea level is not noticibly higher than 50 years ago, I can see and feel and don't need to be told different by someone who is paid to find a crisis, and needs one to keep his income stream flowing. That the ocean has risen the length of a cigarette, when there is a twice daily 5-20 foot tidal rise and drop, isn't scaring me.

Every estimate or projection made the past 30 years about gloom and doom has been wrong. While it is great that North America, Australia/NZ, and most of Europe has cut way way back on polution and emissions, China and the most of the world are going to do whatever they want... and then we have volcanoes erupting... as they have for billions of years... with more 'pollutants' than man could dream of creating.

Think about it... chill out... it isn't over yet!

Report: Temperature Data Being Faked to Show Global Warming

A British journalist is questioning the method used to by scientists to calculate the earth's climate change, calling it "one of the greatest scientific scandals of all time."

Christopher Booker writes for Britain's The Telegraph that climate data from stations in South America have been adjusted since the 1950s to give the impression that the earth's temperature is rising more than the original data showed.

Booker cites Paul Homewood's Not a Lot of People Know That blog where Homewood compares raw data with adjusted temperatures to show the graph trend was reversed from a cooling trend to a warming one.

Homewood checked the data on three weather stations in Paraguay and found that all three had their initial raw readings adjusted to show lower temperatures in the 1950s and higher temperatures today.

Following reporting by Booker two weeks ago, Homewood checked more stations in South America and found the same thing had occurred at them.

Scientists use these records to estimate temperatures in locations that don't have reporting stations, and the data is used to project changes in overall global climate.

Homewood is now looking at stations in the Arctic between Canada and Siberia, Booker reports.

"Again, in nearly every case, the same one-way adjustments have been made, to show warming up to 1 degree C or more higher than was indicated by the data that was actually recorded," Booker writes.

Traust Jonsson, a longtime climate researcher in Iceland was surprised to see the revised data "disappears" Iceland’s "sea ice years" around 1970, when a period of extreme cooling almost wiped out Iceland's economy.

Homewood reportedly became interested in the subject because of the arguments from climate scientists that rising global temperatures is causing the melting sea ice in the Arctic.

In reality, Homewood says, the melting is caused by cyclical shifts in Atlantic sea currents that bring warmer water to the area. Arctic water temperatures last peaked 75 years ago, when sea ice melted back even further than today, he said.
