Thanks for all the input gents. I think sliders it will be. I've been lucky so far. Only had one small door dent from a tree that I was able to pop out. I surely don't want to smash a rocker panel. Now, confirm my suspicion. Bolt on sliders are just glorified step bars good for shopping cart defense. Weld on is the only way to go if I'm gonna use them as sliders, correct?

That would be correct. Bolt on's would be better than nothing but weld-on is the way to go. If I'm going to use a high-lift, I want the slider as securely attached to the frame as possible. I'm not so sure how sturdy some bolts are.

I agree, it just makes more sense to me that if you lift first, you increase ground clearance and can set up the suspension according to your plans/what you are running as far as armor and/or a winch. I just seens to me that the weight of armor would rob stock suspension of performance and travel.

Bumper looks good. Is that with their hitch? I think you said it was an all pro.

Ok I think this is maybe a lil overboard. After all, every part on your truck is bolted on. I'm not an engineer so I'm not gonna get all corny and scientific but depending on the bolt, those bitches are pretty fuckin stout. Theoretically you could tear/bend your frame (1/8" unboxed "square" tube) before breaking one of many 3/8" or larger bolts that hold the slider on. A 3/8" grade 8 bolt has a shear rating of almost 10k pounds. That's just 1 bolt. It's gonna be pretty hard to break off a slider with 10 of those bolts holding it on. Just sayin.

But ........ I welded mine on

Just got a full design drawn to scale of the sliders I'm gonna build. My buddy with the shop is going to call the steel shop that they've used for like 15 years, so it should be a bit cheaper. And I think we're gonna do them before I leave for school.

Yea. It is all pro and the hitch is set behind the license plate. I have a hinge mount ordered. I love the way it sets up in side the bumper and it was super easy to install. Did it by myself. I bought all pro cause of a sale and free shipping.
