Another data point here. I wanted the last year of the proven platform and had outgrown my '09 4cyl AC.

I really like the looks of the 2016 but I just could not wait. I am more than happy with my 2015 DCSB 4.0.

I rather like the look of the 3rd gen and based on everything I've read thus far I think it will be pretty good. However, after getting my Focus right when the new generation came out I swore off every getting a year one of a entirely new model. The 2nd gen has lots of time and development behind it so a vast majority of the kinks are worked out of it. Sure, it's a little dated but it's the price I paid for something more reliable.

Hello all. New here, first post...

I got a 2015 for many of the reasons already stated. Purchased in April. Actually felt pressure to go ahead and buy before pickings got slim. Very happy so far.

I plan on driving it for the full duration. If this latest (3rd) generation really moves me in a few years I might trade up, but I doubt it. That was not the original plan.

I appreciate all the good info on this forum. Thanks!

I am still debating 2015 vs 2016 but leaning 2015 because of 2016 looks. Would like better MPG though.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
I get 21 MPG on my 4wd BCLB ... Highway. New Tacoma will be little better than this however.
Toyota is raising prices. So how much fuel additional $3000 will get you ? at $3 per gallon thats 1000 gallons. at 21 MPG thats additional 21 000 miles

I bought a new 2015 DCSB 5 weeks ago specifically due to the 3rd gen release. Sold my 2011 to my dad. Win Win for both of us. Initially I was very interested in the 3rd gen, but just couldn't get past that front end. I plan on keeping this 2015 for a very long time.

Interestingly I went to my dealer's website and found that they still have (26) 2015 Tacomas in varying configurations and they are currently offering most of them between $2000 - $2300 below MSRP. I think I could have gotten one cheaper now than i did 4 months ago.
