Well, just talked with the guy at toyota. Apparently one of the bed bolts is totally seized up. He said they'd have to bust it and drill it out and that I would be ~5-6hrs. I told them just to bag it. No charge. Guess I'll just have to deal with it...

In other words, they stripped the shit out of one of them and want you to pay for it.

Another great thing to get is the vehicle service records from any Toyota dealership it has been serviced. I was looking at a 4Runner and the service report showed frame patch. NEXT!

Ops' being hornswaggled! Op, $100 will buy you a nice drill and a set of bits, or a sawzall and blades + a 6 pack. Get to work, you can do it.

Shitty thing is most victims would have paid for their incompetence.

Tires and alignments are the only thing I allow shops to perform on my vehicles only because I don't have a tire or alignment machine....yet.

Lol, thanks for the encouragement fellas. I think I'm done with the dealership, at least they didn't try to charge me. I'm probably going to run it by this really great body shop and ask him if he can see signs of a wreck or something, maybe get his take on the whole deal.

I'm honestly just relieved that the frame isn't bent or something like that. I've got a busy couple weeks ahead of me so I won't have time to do much work myself for a while. If I do decide to tackle this myself, I'll need to be damn sure I can handle it.

Soak the bolts in PB Blaster everyday for a week. Then try Impact on the remaining three. If still stuck - try heating the bolts from underneath (just the bolts) red hot (if you safely can ) then re impact. Do one at a time. The stripped one you may have to drill out or perhaps use a angle grinder with a thin blade to cut in a nice slot you can use to try the above.

Good Luck and let us know ...

Another thought - go to another dealer that has replaced many frames and ask how they do this ??? They may just cut the bolts off though ...

Post a picture of the "stripped" bolt.

I normally don't make a big fuss over small things, like when the dealer had the upper intake off and forgot to tighten the clamps on the intake hose going to the airbox.... But this is them literally fucking up a bolt on your truck. They should at least pay for a new bolt, and at most pay another shop that is competent to do the work of fixing their fuck up.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Just an FYI, my old truck had the same thing brand new off the lot. All the trucks I saw from 2005-2008 had a slight off-set of the axle. Buddies 2005, my 2006 and a few of the 07/08s I saw wondering around.

Probably used the wrong size and hit it with an impact full blast.

A good shop will just weld a nut onto that head and screw it right out.

I wonder if the composite bed can handle that kind of heat. I haven't looked but does the bolt have a nut underneath? If so that's where the impact should be used, not on the torx. Just guessing here.
