I put in about 3 more hours on the ongoing campershell rebuild saga. The sides are weathertight now though! I may post a writeup of this rebuild, as I have been learning some interesting things along the way.
In other news, the second rear suspension lift will go on this weekend and I'm really hoping there aren't seized bolts back there.

I drove home down I10 tonight and didn't have any issues with regular low beams.

Yeah, I have a bad ABS sensor. It's amazing how many lights go off when that happens. :D

Thanks. I have 5100s on all 4 corners. Fronts are set at 1.75 to level it out. No rubbing at all. Not sure how the 265/75 does with stock setup.

The search was shorter than expected, actually. After a rather focused and intense 48 hours, pow! I had exactly what I wanted.

It's OK, but it feels like a rental. First automatic I've ever owned after 33 years in sticks. LOL. But it is a decent AT, far better than many i've driven. Also getting used to the size and vision lines. My first gen was like an old pair of jeans and I didn't have to think about anything, and I actually had to take two shots at parallel parking today, embarrassing as hell.
It's only about 18 inches longer and four inches wider, but it makes a difference.

I'm sure the size difference will take getting use to. Gorgeous truck though. It's a good AT but it didn't really appeal to me, I guess we switched places as mine is the first MT I've ever owned. I guess that's the price you pay of you want that extra foot!

I could not deal with a short bed, so that forced me to AT. A shame, but whatever. It will probably make it easier to manage sippy cups and baggies of Cheerios in the back seat, which was the real driver behind this purchase.

So how do you like the MT? I've heard it is a bit odd, especially for experienced MT drivers. Sounds like it suspends the revs high or something like that.

I know the feeling, I went from a '98 Dodge Ram with a 6.5ft bed to a 5 ft bed. I have to stop and think if stuff will really fit when I never had to in the past. It's definitely different. Honestly it feels like driving a truck to me so I don't mind it. The stick has a really long throw so you don't feel the need to speed as its a bit trickier to time. Personally I enjoy it and the few trails I've taken it on a MT is both more entertaining for simple trail riding and helpful on steep descents. If you treat it like a car and try to rush through the gears it's very easy to start revving up and grinding gears, so it's a thin line between driving fast and driving a truck. Doesn't stop me from beating everyone else off the line and speeding more than I should haha.

Both Toyota manuals I've had felt notchy, and you just have to find the sweet spots and just feel it through the gates. I loved wheeling with the manual especially on descents, as you mention. Working two sticks is fun. Now I have a fucking knob.

I guess I'll have to buy a sports car now, too.

Ahh. Did you have the ECM TSB reflash done? I noticed mine shifted alot smoother and with no noise.

I haven't had any TSB's done to the truck. Not sure an ECM flash would help the manual shift any better unless it dealt with the rev hang.
