Went to the dealer today to pick up the washers for the transmission and decided to get them for the rear axle and transfer case as well. They gave me Toyota part 12157-100100 "gasket, plug" and told me they were good for all three applications. Size looked right so I said okay and off I went.

Pulled the plugs in my 6 speed only to find out there were just flat washers on them, obviously not crush washers at all. The parts the dealer provided were these donut looking crush washers.

Are these crush washers/plug gaskets good for anything, or did they give me parts for the wrong vehicle?

You're correct they gave you the compression style which is the top and bottom plug of the rear differential and the top plug in the front differential. The plugs in the transmission and transfer case all use the same aluminum washer which they didn't give you. Also the front differential lower plug uses a larger copper washer for future reference.

How ironic to see this post today. I went to the dealer for the two washers this morning for the rear diff. I was sold 1 crush washer shown above, and 1 larger copper colored washer. At least I got one that was correct so I could put a new one on the drain, and reused the fill one, figuring the fluid level is below it and unlikely to leak. I guess the parts guy was looking at the front diff on the schematic. To bad the op's not closer, we could trade.

You guys wouldn't happen to have the part numbers for the copper washer and the aluminum washer? I'm going to go to the dealer and return/exchange the parts I don't need. The counter guy told me these were the correct plugs for the entire drivetrain, which of course they are not.

Obviously I didn't use them on the transmission. The flat aluminum washers looked fine with no wear so I reused them.

The aluminum washer original number 90430-18008 which is replaced by 90430-A0003 which is a trace smaller O.D. and more rounded on the edge. I would try for old stock if possible. Good luck educating the dealer!
