Tacoma does not support feature. Believe me bro, I've looked into this. I would love to have it on mine.

Can tell you 100%, no factory remote start for Tacoma's. Go with a good aftermarket installer. You'll have great range and can have one fob that will have lock/unlock/start functions. I have Compustar in my Camry and 4Runner, they work great and have 3-4,000 foot range. Plus they are 2-way, so the fob beeps back when the vehicle starts. Pricing should run you 3-350 for basic and 4-500 for 2way installed.

I ran across this and i'm pretty sure i'll get it. I was looking at all the individual parts which can be found for cheaper, but then you have to do all the wiring and programming. I'm assuming you haven't had any issues with it?

No haven't had any issues. I looked at buying the parts separate also but buying that kit was much easier.

I attempted to install an Excalibur remote start with an omega immobilizer this weekend. The immobilizer didn't work so I scrapped the whole project. I'm glad I don't have that glob of wires under my dash though.

Was the immobilizer programmed, they need to be flashed to the particular vehicle before they work.

I know this wont help you . My remote looks like the one in your link. Had local toyota dealer install remote start in 2011 when truck was new. Dont know what brand they installed. Happy with it overall, but as you mentioned the range isnt very good.

Yeah it was supposed to have been anyways. I ordered a Fortin key override all immobilizer so hopefully that one works better. The instructions with the omega unit are garbage.

I installed a RS a couple of years ago, and went with a Fortin immobilizer. Works way better than the Idatalink immobilizer I had, which fried the first time I hooked it up. The Fortin still has to be flashed though, unless the vendor you bought it through pre-flashed it for you.

    This is what it says:
    • KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL combines many different transponder bypass modules into one unit
    • Comes pre-programmed for all applicable vehicles and must simply be learned upon installation

So I'm hoping it all works out. I'm sick of screwing with it.

Looks like you should be ok, their website doesn't even list the flash manager as required for that model of immobilizer. Good luck with the install!

Well the Fortin key override all worked like a charm. It programmed instantly and required only 4 wires plus the data cable. If I had got this unit to begin with this project would have been cake.

It's an Excalibur rs-160 edp+ and a Fortin key override all bypass. Not the greatest remote start, but I had this idea that I wanted to keep my Toyota remotes for some reason. I should have just started from scratch.
