ive read that you can also bend the exhaust hangers so the piping is a little bit further from the spare tire

I just picked up a full size spare for some extended hunting trips up in northern Maine I have planned for this fall. I don't need a permanent solution, so I plan on simply placing it in my bed up against the cab and secure it in place using the OEM bed cleats and some self synching straps. I'll then place my plastic tote/tool/recovery gear box up against that.

It takes up some space, but I don't need to access the back as I keep my dog crates back to back on the folded down rear seats. I just lock up my cap and go! It's much easier than continually opening the cap & tailgate and locking/unlocking the cap at each cover.

I've always liked the look of the tire standing at the front or rear corners of the bed. Old Bronco thing. I'm not sure how tough the Tacoma beds are, and if they'll hold up. Maybe a little reinforcement at the front corners with some electricians strut angle braces. Could also fab a mount out of the strut. Just a thought.

should fit a 285 in the stock location fine. i have a AP rear bumper and prior to that the stock bumper worked fine. Only thing you have to consider is the rear diff smacking the tire when off roading, I had this issue. It does look awkward as well with a fatty tire sticking below my narrower bumper as well. I just throw it in the bed now with a cable lock so i dont have to worry about crawling under the truck to release the tire.

Very cheap option. Works great if you have a Tonneau cover or don’t care about security

Pro grip cargo control 1.5 inch wheel bonnet

Using existing strap brackets in my 2018 TRD off road 6 foot bed

I have a 285 17 in stock location . I did nothing but crank it into place with a little guiding as it went up. Its not as tall as what I run on the truck but good enough for a spare

Running 285/75r16. Had it in the bed but it was still in the way. So I just cut the brackets and put it under the truck.

Wyco or something like that can’t remember the name makes a hitch one also but at $800 u could save another $500 and have a full rear bumper with a swing out.
