Not bad, considering I wasn't particularly trying to be fuel efficient. :notsure:

Personal best with this truck has been just under 23, with the summer Dunflops and a long trip at a sustained 45-55 on back roads.

Edit- I just realized that the last time I filled up the Tacoma was Memorial Day Weekend

Not bad, I'm getting around 20-21 in the fj right now(both calculated and calibrated ultragauge). Granted it's got highway tires at the moment and I'm generally really easy on the go pedal. But not too bad imo. Almost as good as the wifes t4r

Not bad Noel. My best fuel mileage was on a trip back from NY. Filled it up, drove six hours about 375 miles and had just under a quarter of a tank left. Drove back and forth to work for 2 more days before the light turned on. I got well over 400 miles to that tank. That was with the P265/70/17 Hankooks and the lift on it.

Rob, I thought you already got the new ko2's? Did you get a different tire?

I have 2 sets for the Tacoma. The KO2's are my every day tire and the new one's are for off-roading. :) They are replacing my Duratrac's

How are you looking the ko2s. I'm between those or st maxx. I've seen a bunch of the ko2s around on various vehicles and they do look good, but take away the new sidewall/shoulder look and they are basically identical to the old ones.

Not bad at all Noel! I'm hanging between 18 and 19 with the Ferd. I got 15 towing the camper through the Adirondacks and 16 going to Maryland and back. Not terrible considering I was holding 70 - 75 for the majority of both trips. Can't wait to see what happens with the new tires and wheels, they're a little fatter.

If your driving a lot like you did with your old truck look to see what one is lighter for the gas mileage. I got the 265/70/17 in C load but beware I didn't know until after I put them on that they are only 2 ply sidewalls. E load and the St Maxx will have 3 ply sidewalls. I don't really care since they are only for the street for me but if I was going to be wheeling with them I would want the 3 plys. What size are you going to be running? If your doing the mileage you might want to do the tall/skinny if your going over the 265's.
That mileage is not bad at all while towing (even just a pop up camper). I got 16.8 going back and forth to Naples, NY last month while towing mine

I'll be driving a lot still, not as much as before but still far more than the average person. MPG isn't my primary concern, but it doesn't hurt either. I was looking at either 255/80/17 or 285/70/17. BFG doesn't have the ko2 in 255, both are heavy ass tires in 285. Was leaning towards the 255s since they would be slightly better on mileage and likely better in the winter too, but 285s look so much better...

I couldn't agree with you more. 255's have a purpose but the 285's look better IMO

No, not bad at all. I'm happy with that, especially considering that pop up is pretty heavy (for a pop up anyways). It's in the neighborhood of 2,500 lbs. plus all the crap I had in the bed. When I came back from MD and when I went through the Adirondacks, the truck was pretty well packed.
I really like the tall and skinny look. Someone had a picture of a 1st Gen on 235's that I really liked.

I'd never do the 235's. The 255's are the only one's I personally would consider

The 255s look decent with stock fj bumper. I don't think they look as good with aftermarket.

Just personal preference or legit reason for not wanting skinny tires?

Seth, I agree, they look silly on stock wheels, they need to be spaced out a bit. 285's do give a mean stance but something about tall, skinny tires with an aggressive tread just looks good to me.

    X2.
Reminds me of the old military-style like you'd see with the old 40's & 50's power wagons, jeeps, etc. Tall for clearance and skinny for traction.

No reason at all, just personal preference. I just think the wider tires look better
