Lions don't concern themselves with the diets of birds.

He definitely needs some lion food in there.

I've got that one thing, and that other one thing, oh yeah and that other other one thing.
Anyone have any tips for super skinny kid trying to gain mass/muscle? I've been working out 6 days a week for the last month and a half or so, 3-4 shakes and 4-5 super portioned (but balanced) meals and haven't gained more than 5 pounds.

Lift heavy weights, drink plenty of water, eat healthy and a lot! I've gone from 110ish in high school to about 155 now 4 years later and dont plan on stopping.

You're about right where you want to be weight gaining wise. Anymore than a pound a week is going to be more fat than muscle. Keep it slow and lean and you'll get there eventually

I've weighed about 155 since high school, almost 6 years ago lol. Being 6 foot 1 though, makes it look super skinny. I'm lifting as much as I can. I've had 2 shoulder surgeries in the last 2.5 years so it makes lifting heavy difficult.

I'm actually okay with getting some extra fat, it's easier to work fat into muscle than it is to build muscle from nothing.

I was in the same boat...was 140 all through high school and now I'm 180...I've been up to 209. There's no miracle supplements or anything. Just eat at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight and EAAAAAAAAT a lot. If you're gaining more than 1 lb per week, you're going to get fat. Food > shakes. Train hard and eat right and you'll gain muscle.

Of course, I can go way deeper into it than that, but here's the two most important resources to get you started:

    1. go to iifym.com and use the iifym calculator and it will tell you exactly how much protein, carbs, and fat to eat to gain good weight, as well as how many calories to eat.

    2. find a good workout program. I always recommend Doug's 4 Day Split to beginners because it works. I still use it.

To gain muscle is not hard: diet + exercise + sleep = muscle

Don't overdo it in the gym and don't buy in to all the supplements....those companies prey on people like you...

Oh, and at least 8 hrs of sleep per night. Muscles grow when resting. Exercising too much does more harm than good

Yeah, but drinking 3-4 protein shakes a day is retarded. Food > supplements.

I drink one in the morning, one between lunch and dinner because I don't have time for a snack at work generally, and one before bed. As far as eating, it's breakfast, snack, another snack, lunch, dinner, snack after dinner, then bed. One constant phase of eating(ish).

That's what I do, too. I eat like every 2 hrs. If you wanna do shakes, it's not gonna hurt you, I just prefer food because it actually has nutritional value. But, if I did 4 shakes a day, my protein consumption would be like 500 g per day, which is retarded. The only time you ever need more than around 1-1.5g per pound of bodyweight is if you're juicing.

Just eat a good, balanced diet of like 45 g carbs/35 g pro/20 g fat or something like that and you'll grow. IIFYM will calculate you exact needs down to the gram. You can eat whatever you want, as long as you stay within your numbers.
