I also don't want my truck to sit around and wait when I have to get coilovers rebuilt. So I'm probably going to switch over to OME if the 5100's don't get better once I put a bumper on

Exactly. Adjustablity sounds great and all, but when all you're really getting max is 3", it's not that big of a deal. There are 4 different OME springs...880, 881, 882, and 883. 880s dont lift at all, 881s give about an inch, 882s give about 2 inches, and 883s give about 3 inches. One of those options will work for you.

Don't forget leafs. One of the leaves in my pack broke which is what prompted me to get all new stuff. If all your springs are shot, your leafs probably are too.

Agree, if you're prerunning through the desert, then a race designed product is going to work a lot better than one that wasn't. That's not to say OME is shit above 15mph though.

Do you have a backup set of coilovers? Because if you are lifting your truck you probably have 33s or 35s. None of which will work on stock suspension. Rebuildable is nice, but what do you do when they're at the shop being rebuilt for a week+ and your truck is the only vehicle? You have to buy another set of coilovers or springs/shocks that will give you enough room to fit your tires. I personally would rather spend $500 every 40000+ miles on new OME fronts. Makes life simple.

    Go with OME.

As of lift, I'm looking for about 2 inches. And I do want better than factory ride. How much does a set of ads coilover run for

Well after getting my rear shocks installed I started a little project today because I'm soo bored these days. image.jpg
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
The idea was to have a work light to stick out the back window in the bed or working under my truck to change a tire or anything really, I like having light. so I mounted a Pod to a magnetic base and connected it to a cb power cord plug:cool: it also plugs into my fourwheeler to help out those underpowered headlights

A week? I have had mine re valved in 3 hours while I waited. and it is not even like it needs to be done more than once every few years if arent launching off dunes.

fitting 35's on a 2.5 inch coil over lift is another task in itself.. its almost like you assume everyone who upgrades over stock gets huge tires that wont work with anything except the coil overs they bought.

I run 32's and can swap to stock suspension in a heart beat and not have a single issue, even 33's can be fit under stock suspension with some trimming. Are you even trying?

Keep your old stuff and swap it back in if you have to, You enjoy your 10k-40k out of a OE grade replacement. while I will get a lot more adjustability and reliability for not much more money.

To each their own on this one.. clearly my experience means nothing in the matter so, just ignore all of my advice from here on out on actual things i have upgraded and why. o_O:cookiemonster:

I totally disagree. In my expericence and IMHO, they suck metric tons of ass.

EDIT: Unless you want to level stock coils.

Even worse for a drive to work. Federal ass-pounding prison is nicer than that.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I didn't mind yours. BTW, one started leaking and I called RCD and explained how I got them second hand. They didnt mind and I ended up with a brand new set of 5100's. Can't beat lifetime warranty!

I gave my 5100's with my TRD coils away as I would have felt bad charging anyone for them.

Glad you're diggin them. They did not work for me with 881s. Had I known better, done more homework before pulling the trigger, and not listened to other people, I might have not made that misstep from day 1. :cookiemonster:

How long did you have them before the leak? Front or rear? My Nitros haven't leaked a bit since...ever.

edit: and good to hear on RCD support.

You also live in socal where there are shops set up to do the work. Many people don't and need to ship them out.

The amount of trimming to fit 33s on stock suspension is about the same as fitting 35s with a lift. So yes, I'm assuming if you want to fit 33s you're going to do it the easy way and lift the truck compared to cutting. You're in the minority that put coilovers and stay with a tire that will fit on stock suspension.

Again, I had Icons that were leaking within 5k miles and the threads were rusting halfway through their first winter. I got rid of them and went with OME and am happy with that decision.

Yeah, I don't understand why people are OK with lots of maintence and warranty work. FUck that, I want to turn the key and go. Every time. That's why I bought a Toyota.
