It wouldn't be so bad if the 6th gear wasn't so low. I think the 4.56's is still going to be a tad too low. But I have no other choices. 4.10 is not low enough. lol

Tracking says my ECGS stuff will be delivered Monday! Also, BORA. 75" spacers will ship next week. Looks like I will have everything except my tires and fender clips which are shipping from fricken China. I wish it said that when I ordered the clips because I would have got them from somewhere else.

I'm thinking maybe start this coming Friday afternoon or start early Saturday. I actually could use your help lifting the front diff. I'll let you know when we get closer to the weekend. I was thinking I could even do the rear Friday and then if you want we can do the front Saturday.

Got the assembled diffs in the mail today so I got to work. Here's the new rear 3rd member geared 4.56 with ARB locker.

Drained the rear diff and removed all the brake line hangars:

Unbolted the driveshaft from the 3rd and ziptied it out of the way:

Removed these 4 bolts on each side so the axle could be pulled out enough to allow the old 3rd to be pulled out.

It was a bitch but with the help of my wife pulling the axles out while I yanked on the 3rd, we got it. I cleaned the diff housing out and used brake cleaner on the surfaces that will be getting Ultra Grey RTV. I used that instead of the OEM gasket.

Here's the finished product with a little RTV showing:

I filled it with 85w-140 and took it for a test drive. It's awesome!

I'll be working on the front after work tomorrow. I was thinking doing a little tomorrow and finish it up on wednesday. Then install the air compressor, air line, and switches this weekend.

You should have no problems with it. Just a bunch of nuts and bolts and a really heavy assembly to lift. I saw in a thread that the 3rd and clamshell was around 30 lbs.......Lies! that sucker is more like 50-60 lbs each.

I should've gone that route instead of just getting the gears.

Here's the new clamshell right before I applied RTV and mated it with the tube and gear from the old one.

This pic was taken while I was prying the CV's out of the old diff. After you get the CV's out you can unbolt and drop the clamshell assembly.

The front swap took me a little longer than normal because of some minor hiccups. This front diff swap took a lot of work and I honestly do not want to do it again anytime soon. It definitely is an easier task if you have another person helping. I'm very very happy that it's done.

Awesome!! You made it look easy!
Now you can take your time and crawl up stuff...as soon as you get the air lines in. Descending hills is gonna be fun with the lower gears.

I didn't get to test it out in 4lo yet. I can't wait. I think I'm going to relax for a couple days and install the air lines and compressor over the weekend. My back is pretty tweaked from the diff install. lol I still need to run it in 4wd and break in the front diff.

Got the stock diffs boxed up and ready to ship back to ECGS. ECGS sends the shipment with return labels so all you have to do is put the stock diffs back in the boxes, slap on the shipping label they sent, and Fed Ex it back.
