Greatest knife sharpener: Edge Pro Professional

So I went for it and bought the Edge Pro professional model and I'll keep updating this as I use it more. When I'm good and up to speed, I'll be able to receive your knives and put a razor edge on them for cheap because this bastard was not cheap by any means.

First knife up is my every day carry which I heavily abuse. I cut open a spray paint can the other day and I'll be completely reworking the edge . as you can see with the marker trick I've got a stripe in the center- the bevel is so convexed that I literally cannot hit the cutting edge and top of the bevel at the same time

For each knife, I've got a cheap little fishing scale that goes 0 to 20 lbs and I'm using regular snap line twine to measure before and after cutting strength.

This knife pulled over 20 before I maxed the scale out and didn't make a dent in the twine. I'll be breaking this up into a couple posts, but if you were curious about this knife sharpener, stay tuned and prepare to drop 700 bucks for it

This is the first knife sharpening system I've ever used aside from my old hand me down stones

An hour ago, it was too dull to cut twine pulling well over 20 lbs.
let's call this 2.5 lbs and now I can shave with this.

 

That is a lot of sharpener for 8CR13MOV

 

Haha I'm quickly learning the difference between this and a quality steel.
I almost need it to continually maintain this edge ... But should let me do knives for a couple years to pay itself off.

 

It is easily sharpened and easily lost. I sharpened it every evening and I only used it for light work like opening boxes and cutting packing tape.

If you have any 1095 carbon steel blades.. prepare yourself for a mind blow.

 

I found my knife steel on some charts but I can't find others like my dad's SF (Sure fire?)

Not sure if that's a serial number or what but I can't figure out what steel it is aside from much harder than my Kershaw shown above.
Mine dulls if you look at it funny but it's easy to practice shaping the Edge on.

Do you know what people normally charge for knife sharpening? I'm sure it can't be much but I've got no clue

 

Wicked edge makes a nicer sharpener as well. I think it won a few awards when they first came out. Price point is about the same as well.

Without looking at their specs, it could be 154CM/CPM154 or some other stainless.

 

Both are solid.

Wicked Edge is arguably a more repeatable sharpener, but both have their fan bases and they're pretty much addicted to one or the other.

 

Busy busy. About 50 knives in on this thing and I'm loving it more and more. I'm doing them for about 5 bucks each for neighbors or anyone who needs theirs done so I can buy a couple more stones .

 

These knives don't need sharpener all it takes is the 400-600 grits sand paper from Walmart and will sharpen any knives in perfect edges

 

Depends on what you say is perfect man you'll get a good working edge with that and the tiny serrations will help cut too.

but after getting mine down to mirror finishes with the 30,000 grit I can't stand anything less.
