I have another question. After I wash my truck and it gets a little dirty/dusty in the next few days, is there some kind of over-the-counter spray I can buy to clean the dirt or dust away? Thank you for you time and help. Cheers!

Thanks for the tip. I live in San Francisco and we get a lot of mist here in the mornings. I'll wash my truck and BAM, freakin rain and/or mist in the morning. Then it creates this dust/dirt on my truck when it dries up. Anyway, thank you for your help. CHEERS!

 

get it good and wet and wipe off gently and I think something like that morning film would be fine to wash off with detail spray. there are a bunch of different brands. I think they all pretty much do the same thing (although some have a wax component to them). I'd just be careful not to scratch it by rubbing in larger particulate matter. griots makes a good quick detailer that I like to use...

I've heard Meguires NXT 2.0 is a great over the counter sealer. Also hear good things about their ultimate wax. I use Meguires synthetic sealer 2.0 #21. It's awesome stuff but harder to find (readily available online). No need to clay again before application. Just give it a good wash with blue dawn dish soap before applying the sealer. The sealer needs to bond directly to the paint. I'm not a detailer- I've just learned by reading the forum.

I've been reading a ton of good reviews of Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax. Sounds like it has pretty good longevity and water beading qualities for a wipe on wipe off product. I bought a bottle today to try. Might be good for the problem described previously.

 

Do you wash used rags in your washer or at the laundromat?
I am worried about wax and other things clinging to the side of the washer.

 

Good question. Was thinking the same thing recently. That I really don't want to was my washing cloths in the machine.

 

I wash mine in the washer at home with no issues. I try to use a dedicated microfiber detergent and only wash the microfiber together. Then let air dry.

Quite a few companies make a detergent just for microfiber. I have used Chemical Guys and Adams in the past. Like the Chemical Guys a bit better.

 

NEED SOME ADVICE!
Went grocery shopping and put the bags on the back seat, An ENTIRE bottle of Baby Oil spilled on my back seat....
I have thrown a bunch of baking soda on the seat to see if i can get some of the oil soaked up.

Any ideas what I should do?

Okay guys. Here's my dilemma. I have a Porter Cable 7424 DA polisher, but I don't know what pads or compounds to use. I have some fine scratches, swirls, and oxidation on the paint, because I haven't done anything in a couple years. What do I do to restore my truck to showroom shine?
