Brake pedal will travel maybe an inch or 2 and then stop, any ideas? Issue started all of a sudden, I had no issues with brakes, before.

if your brake moved more than 2 inches before and now it feels firmer (im assuming it still works) there was probably some air in the lines that managed to work itself into the resivoir.

adjuster in drums could have been stuck for a while aswell.

Make sure and look under the dash to see if the brake booster rod has not fallen out and is jammed against the firewall.

You have lost vacuum to the brake booster. Either the vacuum hose is loose/has a hole in it or the booster is bad itself.

Do you have the vacuum boosted brakes or the electronic brakes on models with ATRAX?

I had a similar issue with mine except it would progressively work its way to not having travel. They still worked, but as soon as I touched the brakes, they would grab hard. Ended up being air in the system. If that isnt it, its either the booster itself or the vacuum lines for the booster

From inside the cab, when I push the brake,I'm hearing a hiss. Also, as I press the brake the engine sputters, once I let off the brake the engine will run smooth again. Does that guarantee that the brake booster is bad? Thanks for any replies.

Thats a sign. I forgot where I saw this, but theres a list of tests to confirm if your booster is bad. Check the hose that leads from the booster to the intake. And see if theres any cracks or any leaks in that hose. Thats an easy fix

Get someone to listen for the hiss you hear, it should show where the vacuum leak is.

No, it pretty much guarantees you have a vacumn leak.

It could be the booster, but more likely a failed check valve, check valve seal, or the vacumn line from the engine to the booster.

Actually your brakes should work as is. Just very hard pedal, because not only are they now 'manual', they take more pressure than manual, because you have to overcome the inoperable booster.

If it's the vacumn line, check valve or check valve seal, it will be a simple inexpensive fix. If its a booster, the part will be pricey and take a good bit more labor to replace. Betting it's one of the simpler items.

Does anyone know how to remove the booster arm from the brake linkage, or is there a video you could point me too?

you still haven't fixed the booster?

theres a clevis screwed onto the booster. it's only screwed on. there's a locking nut that is tightened onto the clevis to keep it in place. separate them first.
