Thanks. ECGS made it really easy to order and answered any questions I had. They had my two diff assemblies built and shipped to my doorstep in Hawaii within 5 days.

 

Yes, it does look easy when you see pictures of the process, but trust me, I struggled with a few things during the rear and the front swap. lol More struggles with the front though. I do think that what did give me a hard time was just part of the norm, it's just no one posts pictures of that kind of stuff. It's totally doable, just takes patience and some time.

 

How's the difference of the gearing feel now?

 

It's a night and day difference. There's more torque now than when the truck was on stock tires but my RPM's are high on the freeway. That's to be expected because I'm still on 33's. More power in every gear. It'll be perfect when I get my tires, a little lower geared than stock.

 

But you think it'll be perfect for my A/T?

 

I don't think so. From the researching I did, you have a higher gear ratio than my 6 speed. IIRC auto guys were going 4.88's for 35's. 4.88's would have been too low for my truck. I still need to be able to drive comfortably on the freeway when I need to.

 

Yeah I'm auto and I'm going 4.88 when I make the transition to 35's. I did some research and it appears 4.56 for manuals and 4.88 for autos is the norm.

 

Oh, and when you drain your front diff. .....the fluid shoots out sideways about a foot.

 

I'm not going to 35's though. I just want back the torque I lost when I went to 285's. I drive up and down the H3 everyday and have to really get on the gas to stay at a decent speed. Not to mention that my shifting points have adjusted a lot. My rpm's are screaming in 3rd coming up the H3 and won't shift until I start my downward decent. If I could get 4.11's I would. I haven't really checked but there isn't anything available between stock and 4.56's

 

I think its time for a supercharger.

 

Glad you like it, and at least you didn't drop the drain plug into the oil eater box and spill oil everywhere like I did... Then I had to fish the damn thing out..

 

4.11s are available, they come in the 4 cyl 4x4

 

I'm curious as to what your rpms are in top gear at 60 (speedo indicated)?
I'm at 2100-2200 4.56 with 33s. Speedo reads 60, actual from gps is 62.

 

At 60 on the speedo now, I'm at about 2500. Maybe little over.

 

I would go 4.56's then. TBH 4.11's might not make that much of a noticable difference to spend that kind of coin on gears.

 

I'm running 4:10's and 35's with a six speed. They do fine, but a little more grunt would be nice. You can buy replacement 4:10's though, just have to look around. Sierragear has them on thier website and ECGS should have them as well.

 

@Vanguard He's runnning 4.10's witha 6-speed and 35's. I would think then that might work for your auto w/33's.

 

Tested the truck in 4wd yesterday. Everything works fine. Next up is installing the ARB compressor, air line, and switches this weekend and test out the locker.

 

wow, is right! Hope you finish your break in and get to stomp on the fun pedal before the 35s go on! Sounds like a fun with a 6 speed.
