A little of this and a little of that.
I agree with Rebecca (DoubleRGirl). The price is reasonable and worth $30 for advertisement on AutoTrader.

I go to AutoTrader for cars/trucks. I stay away from Craigslist because of the scammers.

    GLWS of Corvette.

Get the car professionally detailed, take better pictures, and include more info on the ad (service history, upgrades, etc). Posting it on the vette forums and autotrader is a great idea.

Man, $9000?? Imo that's too much for a C4 , not to be rude in anyway, but simply, I wouldn't pay more than $7000 max for that particular C4

I may have to go this route. I've had it on CL in multiple cities near me all month, still no sale. I joined corvetteforum, asked them about pricing, and posted it on there. They said the car could fetch 10K from the right buyer. My father will take 8k, so price is certainly not an issue.

Did you post it for sale there? Did you get any offers? How about from any of those that said it could fetch as much as $10K, did they make an offer? You're asking a bunch of fanbois who also own a similar car and would like to believe it's worth that much.

As I stated above, the C4 is the red headed step child in the Corvette world right now. It's gonna be 10-15 years before you'll get $10K+. Now a 2nd or 3rd gen will get those $$$. Nobody wants a C4. Anyone who's interested in the C4 based on looks or price is likely gonna spend just a few $$ more and get the 5th gen w/ a much more powerful motor and modern tech.

Not trying to break your balls, just being honest.

2 years newer and 'asking' $5450 or ½ as much as your father's.

    99' for asking $10,500

    http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5116638656.html

If you want that kind of money, you're gonna have to find a collector.

you know both of these cars have 100 clicks right?
I'm not a corvette expert, but I also wasn't a Harley expert when I started running a bike shop. I just tried to find the most reasonable comps. Here's what I've got for your car:

There is one down the street from me that's going for $2,000. Looks decent enough.

Its an 80s sports car known for being unreliable and was made in mass quantities. I see them rotting in every other driveway in the hood near where I work. It's just not very desirable. Just because you found an advertised dealer price for one doesn't mean its worth anywhere close to it. I bet those dealers would take half or less of their asking price if you offered cash straight up.

If nobody has called in a month then it's priced too high and with corvettes there's alot of choices for buyers.

I've owned 5 Corvettes. Sold 2 of them there. Quickly I will add. THE most viewed Corvette site on the web. They have generation specific classifieds. There are plenty of guys who want the C4's. GLWS!

I've had it posted on there for quite some time. They told me its a $10,000 car, its listed at $8,000 on the site, and no bites.

believe it or not many dealers have software to monitor live market data on what the supply and demand is, market days supply, and if they want to turn a car in x amount of days, what kind of pricing strategy they need to employ. it's an efficient market, dealers have to price to market in order to drive sales

FYI you can't finance a car that age so straight cash is the only payment option, and dealers make more money when you do finance with them because the bank pays them a spiff for the loan

    No disrespect...
but I see a few things hurting the car:
    non original paint
    non original wheels
the rear spoiler and rocker pieces
    the automatic trans.

That said, I have no idea of the car's value. Good looking car though.

The C4 ZR-1 is a collectible car for sure. Any other model, not so much. 350,000+ C4's were built and are littering the country. And on top of that a newer better model replaced it making it even less desirable. I would very interested to know how much it ends up selling for. Good luck OP, keep us posted.
