    Interesting story this weekend.
Ruby is still being potty trained right now. So whenever she is inside with us we leave the backdoor open/cracked so she can learn to go out when she needs to use the restroom.
We were all playing with the dog one night. We were loud, the dog was loud, etc. She needed to use the restroom so she went outside but came right back in. I didn't think anything of it when the dog came running back in but my daughter sensed something and went to take a look. She spotted a coyote in the backyard. Our back wall is at least 6'-7' high and brick. When she saw it it was climbing back over the wall. I jumped up and grabbed a bat and chased it back into the fields behind my house. I walked the whole area making as much noise as possible to scare anything away.

Ruby usually wakes up and needs to go outside at about 5am. I go out with her and usually play with her until 6-6:30 inside. She's outside during the day until we get home at around 4-6pm. After that she is in/out of the house with us there.

My neighbor has lost 2 dogs within 7 years. Any ideas? I've saw the "roll guards" people put on their walls so I might try that. The only issue is getting the whole block to okay it.

A crate in the house isn't an option while you are gone? I have always crate trained my animals and my 2 shepherds are in the house when we are not home. Coyotes are not really my concerns it the crazy people in this world I am more worried about.

The wife and I leave for work between 5-7am and get home around 4-5pm. I don't want her in any sized crate for that long. We have a dog run about 5'x25' on the side of the house. However, the wall runs with the field so I would have to cover/guard that as well.

Yeah that's a bit long for crate training. When we do it either my wife or I would come home for the lunch hour. Sounds like that is not an option for you. I'd say cover that dog run but that still will not stop curiosity of your dog if the coyote hops in the backyard to see what's going on while you are gone.

Twins! Well, close anyway. This is Jackson. He is a golden doodle too, at least that's what they told us when we rescued him. We have had him for 3 years(he was 8months old when we got him) and think he probably has some terrier in him. He likes to dig and is very vocal
