Initial i thought this storage was great, but i now have a car seat in my back seat most of the time and its kind inconvient to get stuff from under there, so i dont really keep any thing in there any more. I did have a thought to remove the plastic insert and maybe put a couple 6x9's under it making a plywood speaker box that fits in the opening. I was wondering if anyone had removed there and had any pics of the aftermath and or thoughts on this project.

You won't always have car seats. Why butcher your truck?

it would be like 100% reversable just take the speaker box out and put the insert back in. plus the storage behind the seat is still just as if not more convenient and i plan on adding a tool box in the bed. there are thing i have done that are irreversable that some may call butchering but this would not be one of those things

I would look at the sound deadening threads.

Not easily reversible, but not really butchering since I didnt cut out metal that isn't hidden with the original storage in place.
8" sub in a fiberglassed box moulded in place on one side, amp on the other. Used RAAMmat to deaden vibrations.

I didn't do a write up on it. I used 1/2" MDF cut to the shape of the opening with the hole for the sub in it. Laid glass down in the opening and wrapped it over the board to seal it. I put RAAMmat on the fiberglass on the front (section at the seat base) to get rid of little vibration there and also on the seat base itself. The top of the box got a layer of RAAMmat followed by the black foam. The seats rattled, so I pulled them apart and put a layer on the inside to get rid of that issue without having the mat on the outside (can't tell the seats have it when they are flipped up).
It was basically a "I'll figure it out along the way" project.
Amp is a Kicker ZX400.1 sitting on a piece of MDF to keep it in place.
