I wanted to get some opinions. I've been considering taking advantage of Dodge's 0% for 72 months deal and getting an 09 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Laramie.

Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with my Tacoma, but I'm having a hard time passing up a full size with 390 horses, leather, navi, etc. for basically the same note. 0% allows you to afford a lot more truck than you normally can!

What you think? I just got my 09 Tacoma in April and still owe $27K. I've been offered $24K for my trade. It's a Prerunner TRD Sport with some moderate add ons.

My Dodge was the biggest peice of shit I had ever owened. Seems the only ones worth a shit are the Cummins trucks.

Your call. I just hope you delete your account on TW after the trade. We never want to hear from you again. But seriously, do what you think is best. Thats a good deal. But you may regret owning a Dodge in a year or so when all the shit starts going wrong. Good luck.

My biggest thing is resale.. you could probably drive your tacoma for another year or more and still get 24k trade in. Tacomas just have rediculous resale... When I had my 05 AC 4x4.. I bought it with 12k miles for 22k that was late 05 also. You cant even touch that now with how popular these trucks are... I wanted to buy a used one, but couldnt justify spending new car money on a used truck..so I spend the extra 3 or 4k and bought brand new.. and in 2 years I will probably buy another Tacoma and hopefully only have to pay 4k or less to get into one.

Dodges resale is pretty much non existent.. and I am a mopar guy. So you can either stick with a truck that has great resale and is proven.. or get the new body style dodge (yes, it does look sweet)..and then be upside down 10+ grand in 2 years...

    Questions to consider:

    1. The loan payments may be the same, but what about other costs, e.g., gas, insurance, routine maintenance? (10quart oil change vs. 6 quarts?)

    2. Warranty service will be done at a Dodge dealership. Is that good or bad?

    3. Will the "new" Chrysler be around to honor your lifetime powertrain warranty in 3 years? 5 years? 8 years?

    4. Was Chrysler's bankruptcy tied in any way to the quality of its products? (Note: the Ram you're considering is a pre-bankruptcy design.)

Dodge = junk. If you must go full size, non Toyota, then at least get a Ford.

I traded off my 2004 quad cab HemiRam 4x4 on Labor Day weekend for a 2010 DC TRD OR. The Dodge had 100K miles on it and was never in the shop. It was an excellent truck. I think I could easily have gotten another 100K miles out of it. Super tough. I hauled more river rock, mulch and home improvement supplies in it than I care to think about.

Downside was the truck got about 12 MPG and it was like parking a Tractor trailer. It had a large turning circle.

When I was buying my Tacoma there was a Dodge dealer across the street. Toyota was saying that those trucks as they leave the lot, the depreciation was half when the truck would leave the lot

I wouldn't do it but I've always been a quality over quantity type of guy though. The fact that you can get a loaded full size truck for the same price as a tacoma should tell you a lot about the quality of the Ram.

    Good luck with your decision.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
Out of the big 3, Chrysler is in the biggest trouble and I kind of doubt they'll be around in 2-3 more years. For god' sake their 'solution' is to start selling re-badged Fiats. Sound familiar? AMC sold re-badged Renaults before their demise. Just keep that in mind...

you are 3000 upside down if u trade in. that will offset the 0% deal and not be much of a deal in the end. Do the math first, then remember that it is also a dodge your looking at.
