I am going to paint spots I see but I am worry about spots I dont see.
I seriously was under impression that frame produced in 2015 will have none of the bare spots of frame produced in 1999 (my first gen truck)

That means people buying 2015 trucks are better start painting their frames next day because they will rust just like 05-08 frames.
Its 2015 I think painting frame at this point should be no brainier for company the size of Toyota.

Pics? On a more serious note. I'd like to see where they missed the paint.

I updated first post with pics. Those where the shiny spots I saw immediately after parking truck after ride back from dealership. Over weekend I will do better inspection and start painting frame again. Just sucks because I was thinking this is not going to be an issue at all.

Is it likely my 2010 will have frame issues down the line?

All should be maintained for longevity, IMO.

Definately a few nicks in the paint on the welds. Damn Dana. Toyota just needs to dump them.

I'd just fluid film it every year. Paint is finicky and prone to come off again.

Anyone know if fluidfilm will damage nylon lock nuts? I've heard WD40 and some other greases can break down the NLN. I'm just wondering because my sliders have NLN and when I fluid film my truck I'd rather not have to worry about it

It's lanolin based, so no. Check out their site. They use is on a lot of farm machinery and whatnot.

It will make rubber swell, including rocket guard rubber... But not sure about nylon... Even then it doesn't seem to cause a breakdown of the rubber, just swelling.

Look at the pictures I posted for 2015 frame, ... what do you think :):D

I am Ok with that, If the original paint is good. There is no point of trying to maintain bare metal (as in the pictures) this needs painting which sucks because now I know what I will be doing again for next couple weekends.

Straight up no clean up in manufacturing. Its not the paint failing, it's the copper or silica deposits on top of the weld beads flaking off under the paint. If they blasted it before paint that issue would be non-existent as it would remove the weld deposits

Unfortunately they don't protect against air to ground attacks as Toyota was too cheap to go with full-on missile guards

Having had a close look at my new frame I was thinking they were welded by humans, not robots. Probably on a big temporary factory floor with a bunch of jigs for assembly, not on a line.

There was quite a bit of weld spatter under the coating. And the weld filler metal is exposed in quite a few places.

That said, I've had lots of trucks over the years that got a bit of rust scale on the frames but never flaked to pieces the way the Tacoma did.

One thing I'm not clear on is which coating is being blamed. Galvanized steel product has it's own coating from the steel maker. The frame manufacturer would then cut and form the steel and assemble and weld the frames and then apply their own coating.
