Just an FYI guys. I recently purchased a Dayco brand upper rad hose P/N 70898 For my 2010 1GR-FE. The hose does not fit the truck properly. There is an extra bend in it for some unknown reason. The factory Toyota hose does a single L bend in to the rad nipple whereas the Dayco hose has an elbow pointing down before the 90 degree bend towards the rad. The hose can be pulled up and be made to fit but this causes a kink near the water neck. So anyone who has ever had their radiator hoses changed recently at a mechanics shop should be aware and double check your hoses.

The cause of this is unknown yet. The auto parts supplier I deal with is looking in to it. It is possible that a few hoses got labeled wrong. I'm waiting for another one to come in and if its the same deal then I'll just get my money back and buy one from Toyota.

I doubt that. The length of it is precisely enough to make it fit provided it didn't have that extra bend in it. The extra bend puts your 90 degree about 3-4" below your upper rad nipple. If you try to tilt it up and make it fit it will but you will kink the hose at the water neck near the block. No matter what I tried, it did not fit.

Here's a pic of Dayco hose 70898 from their WEB site. Does yours look like this?

Yes and it's wrong. Look closely at that pic and you'll notice there are two bends on that hose and there should only be one. Whereas if you google "Toyota Tacoma engine bay" you will see a hose that comes from the engine and does just one 90 degree bend in to the radiator.

I can only imagine how many people are driving around with kinked rad hoses because shops order them and install them without properly checking fitment.

Something is screwed up here! Perhaps the thing is labelled wrong? I will be ordering another brand at another place and will see what happens.

I think Rock Lobster may be right. I popped the hood on my 2nd Gen 1GR-FE Tacoma and looked at the upper hose. It may be that the lower part of the hose I posted needs to be trimmed. Parts mfgs. make a lot of things to fit many autos. Sometimes trimming is required.

Same thing happened to me at Autozone. Wrong hose part number whatever. Bought it online and no problem.
