The eye sees ~4800K light the best. Lower K will be less stressful on the eyes at night, while higher K will be more stressful. There's a reason why red is the preferred illumination color for not compromising night vision.

I took a short drive with the VisionPlus tonight. initial reaction-yes, "less white" than the SS Ultras. And ever so slightly better peripheral illumination- it might be my imagination, as that's what I was hoping for. honestly, they feel very similar to the Ultras, but I still think my stocks had better peripheral illumination. the high beams on the Phillips blew all the others away. it was like I was sitting atop a lighthouse. that's gonna be nice on the highway.

I've decided to be content with these until they blow. if I get a year, I'll be happy. I'll come back and update this thread after I get them out on a dark highway.

I want to add- the Philips have the most pronounced low beam cutoff of any of the bulbs I've used. it is VERY pronounced.

Also please mention when the pic is posted if you had the factory fog lights illuminated in the picture or if it is purely low beam headlights without secondary vehicle light sources.

More like 2001. Maybe you're talking about Sylvania Cool Blue? Those came out before Silver Stars. From experience, a year old Cool Blue bulb and a brand new Silver Star bulb, both in 9003, look 99% the same. Took my brother a few minutes to stare at both side by side until he figured out which bulb was which. Longevity varies but I have always liked Sylvanias. Been using them since 1999 in my various cars.

OP, in my Tacoma I've been happy with Philips Night Guide (looks like stock but longer beam pattern on the road) and Philips MotoVision (orange tinted but whiter than stock, also has a longer beam pattern). Currently using Piaa Super Plasma GT bulbs. Nice color but less usable light than stock.

thanks. I looked at those Moto visions. i got the impression those were for motorcycles? the night guides also look interesting. that three color zone thing looks cool and sounds effective. the more I drive with the new vision plus bulbs, the more I like them. driving with a whiter light is interesting. it almost seems like the lights aren't on but I can see things much better. it's like more light but you can't see the light. like the light is invisible or something (if that makes any sense at all).

I have 9006 Night Guides in my Integra and the 9003 Night Guides were used in my Tacoma for a bit. I don't notice the different colors on the road at all. They look just like stock bulbs, even when standing in front of the car and looking at the headlight housing. If you're parked in front of a garage or wall, then you'll notice the yellow and bluish/whitish color on the edges of the hotspot. Maybe someone with better vision than me will notice all three colors on the road but I myself don't see them, except when I'm parked in front my white garage door.

Yes, Moto Visions are marketed towards motorcycles and so far they're my favorite 9003 bulbs that I've used in my Tacoma and Civic. I'll post back from my phone as I took a reflection shot of my Tacoma headlight housings with Moto Visions turned on.

Are those as yellow as they appear to be?

I have similar pictures but the glass wall itself is tinted brown, and mine still look white.

what is the reason for the bi-colored MotoVisions? I read somewhere that they were supposed to help other drivers recognize motorcycles (good luck with that, Philips, unless you email the whole world to let them know). is there another functional reason that you know of or that you've been able to determine?

The orange is supposed to stand out among other headlights, drawing more attention to the motorcycle, therefore making other drivers more aware. It's just all marketing talk to me. Maybe that's their theory but I don't think any kind of study or research was done to see if their claims are true. Now that I'm giving it more thought I'm going to Google it when I have free time.

My main reason for buying them was to just try them out, and it just so happened I ended up liking them more than other bulbs I've tried out in the past.

well, I got the Philips Vision Plus +60% out on a dark highway. I'm very pleased with the bulbs. much brighter than stock. there is NO blue coating on these bulbs. the high beams throw light a LONG way down the road. photos don't do it justice. and the lows were so bright it was actually hard on the eyes to drive for a longer time. I was on the road for 3 hours and found I used the high beams a majority of the time. Ha, until I hit a stretch with a bunch of signs. then I'd go back to low because the reflections on the signs were so damn bright!

these photos were taken at a stop.

And that's the right way to get more light out of halogen housings.

I find that most of the time, the low beams are good enough, and I rarely use the high beams.

^This. Yet I always see posts that say "OMG stock lights suck I can't see! Which HIDs should I get 8k or 10k???"

Just put in the new style Sylvania SilverStar Ultras earlier this week. They have a bigger footprint than stock and they're a tad bit whiter. I estimate a short life though, maybe a year or so.

I'm still really happy with the the Philips VisionPlus +60. Huge improvement over stock. Curiosity got the best of me, so I just ordered the Philips XtremeVision +100, H11 (fogs) and 9003's. Will come back with updates when I get them installed.
