    Ok so please forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse. I just really wanna make sure I've exhausted the possibilities before I start the build.

    I measured my fender flares and they stick out past the tread on my tires by 1-1/2". With the an LT setup they would only stick out 2" as long as I stick with a 10.5" tire which I prefer. Is the tire coverage the only issue or are there clearance/travel issues that can't be worked around with the usual pinch weld mods, lift heights etc?

    At the least you will probably have to trim them otherwise they will self clearance on the first big bump and that will not be fun.

    Checked backlash right before installing. Way off. Need to order new shims now. Fucking 8.4" diff..

    Go look at Jason's build @jberry813. He has 33x10.5s or about that anyways. His still poke out past the fenders a bit. Stock fender won't cover them for shit.

    Not that that matters..mine barely cover half my tire lol

    But the other part that matters is the glass fenders have a higher arch because the wheel will travel upwards more. So you'll end up cutting the fender a lot to make them work.

    I understand the concept of how shims are used. What I don't get is why the gear mesh changes each time you open it. What did you have to do in the ARB air line install that changed your gear mesh enough to require shims you don't have?

    BTW, the redhead is out of surgery. New bearings, seals and brakes are installed.

    The install is not just an air line. Its the entire carrier ensembly. Which is not the same as a stock carrier as in where the ring gear sits in the diff changes.

    While usually its close it's not exact as every diff is totally different.

    The 8.4" diff uses large shims also know as washer plates to set the backlash. The elocker uses and spring loaded essembly to ratchet the backlash where you want it.

    The fucking annoying part is the install kits do not come with these shims. At all. They send shims that don't fit. Its great..

    So even though you had is setup with correct backlash the other day, it all changed again because you had to remove everything again to fix the airline issue?

    The seal housing get replaced which sits in the bearings changing backlash.

    What sucks is the shims I sent back to the guy would now work perfect...

    Oh well. Just order more..can't find the 6 we had left over from mine and dads.

    Does yours not have adjuster nuts to change the backlash? Seems strange to me that you would have to use shims.

    No 8.4" diff does. Only the 8" "turbo/v6" and 8" e locker has that.

    The pre-tacos have what is essentially the same diff as what I have right? Just no locker. Is the axle tube/track width the same too?

    Yea the elocker is based off the 8" V6 diff. Same gears even.

    Different widths though. Pre tacos are 58.5". Yours is 60"
