I have a 09 SR5 4X4 DC and was wondering what the Goodyear Duratrac 265/75/16 Load Range C (6 ply) would be like. I currently have the stock Dunlop AT20's 245/75/16 and want something better. I use my truck as a daily driver most of the time (85-90%) and go on gravel roads the rest of the time, especially camping. During the summer I haul a RPOD 176 trailer they weighs, in my case, about 3200lbs loaded. I can get the Duratracs for $202 per tire (Canadian) regular $253. What do you think?

To be fair, anything over stock is going to be a dramatic improvement. In snow, they're amazing. Off-road, same; amazing. Pavement isn't too bad and they're pretty quiet.

Would I get them again? Yes.

I am currently on m second set of Duratracs. Performs well in all categories but isnt the best in any. Does well in snow and offroad, I have never had them in mud, quiet on the road and at highway speeds also traction is well on dry pavement. I recommend as I am on my second set. BTW I got 49K miles on my first set and I dont drive easy, I could have gotten another 8K on them if I wanted.

I run that exact size and load range on my truck, They have 20k+ miles in 2 years and look near new still, they handle everything I have thrown at them with amazing results, we are having intense rains here in San Diego and they have been amazing in the rain as well.

they handle great at 10psi in the sand and 33 psi around town, wear evenly and balance well, they arent even all that loud.

I strongly recommend them as they have surpassed all of my expectations in an All Terrain style tire.

I am stepping up to a 17 inch wheel this week and going to try the new BFG AT KO2 however they may get returned for another set of Duratracs if they are anything like the original BFG AT KO were.

I had mine in that size since October 2014 with about 16k miles with very little tread wear and no complaints. I'd buy them again, probably will. There a little louder than other all terrain tires I've ran like BFG but not bad and like them better. I've ran them on everything but heavy mud and large rocks and did great. They spend 95% of the time on the street and no complaints their either.

I had 35" Duratracs on a Jeep Wrangler 4 door and really liked them. They are great tires, but they started to slip on wet pavement after about 25k miles.
If you are considering Duratracs, you owe it to yourself to look at Kelly TSRs. They are very similar (especially the sidewalls). My son and my brother have them and are very pleased. Also, they are cheaper than Duratracs.
    Just a suggestion...

    Too few to list.
Kelly Tires are owned by Goodyear so rubber composition would probably be similar. Kelly's are a little cheaper $199 MSRP for the 265/75r16 and $208 for the duratracs-same load range C. Don't know if retailers sell the Kelly's cheaper.

I had them on my 2009 Prerunner and will put them on my current truck when the BFGs wear out. I had them in mud, rocks, and cactus with no problems. I put 30k on them and they had 1/2 tread left easily. The reason I will put them on the 13 is because they are the best in the mud without going to a full MT and they are available in a C load range in 265/75.

See the thread i started called "why shouldnt i get duratracs". I had the same questions on them, but people really bashed them in that thread. The sidewall is apparently really thin and they can shred.

No idea what they are doing to shred the sidewall, they are stronger than most AT tires on the market and unless you are trying to not drive responsibly even off road they will be fine.
Rule of thumb is you use the tire to drive over stumps, rutts and rocks not try to slide past it..

On loose road surface or deep snow they worked very well for me.

Not so much on wet pavement.

Ya I don't get where people say there quiet for an all terrain. There as loud as all the mud terrain's I've ran on other rigs. Still nothing the stereo doesn't drown out and the hum helps get the kids to sleep. I get good traction in the rain though. May be due to that I live in Western Washington so the roads may not get the oil build up from all the rain we tend to get, except this year it's been like living in San Diego since February.

Unless you use a highway tire there will be a hum, mud tires are the loudest and all terrains with big voids tend be a little noisy, coming from BFG MT KM2 to a duratrac they are like a nice white noise fan.. barely noticeable.

If you want a quite tire get a Michelin LTX AT/2 tire.

Now that I think about it I may be getting better traction because I've had extra weight with a snugtop on since putting on the Goodyears. Before with no canopy that I had pretty shitty traction with the stock tires and Pro Comp Extreme AT on wet roads, Both were garbage in most everything.

Great tire for the north east. The performance is very good. they are good at everything. Not the best in rock and in extremely warm climates they wear out faster due to softer compound for winter months. overall good performer with my uses of mostly paved roads in severe winter conditions, mud, rai, etc. would buy again

I've got 12k on a set I bought in April - have driven all over Colorado, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho. So far they are the best multipurpose truck tires I've owned. I've driven through light and heavy rain (4"+ running across road), sleet, heavy hail, snow, dry, oil baked asphalt, dirt, gravel, and light mud. Way better than any other AT tire I've used in 30+ yrs and less noisy than and MT I've had.
-Actually less noisy than the 3seasom high performance run flats I had on my BMW X5.

They don't corner like street tires, but a tacoma isn't exactly a corner burner anyways.

I think you'll be glad when you move up to the 265/75/16 size. My truck came with 265/70/16's. Same overall diameter as the 245/75/16's but about 1" wider. The 265/75/16's will be both about 1" taller and 1" wider than what you have. Overall I'm pleased with the size.

I looked hard at the Duratracs as well as several other tires before my last purchase about 18 months and 25,000 miles ago. I have no doubt they are good tires, but not worth the asking price to me. I ended up with Cooper AT/3's. While the tread doesn't look as aggressive I've been extremely pleased with their performance in all conditions. I had them put on less than a week before Snow Jam 2014 hit North GA. I drove all over the place and never spun a tire. Great wet or dry pavement tire that is pretty darn quite. The tread is aggressive enough to keep mud slung out if you keep wheel speed up. In my experience they are as good as any other AT. Only a true mud tire is going to be better in mud.

They are rated as a 55,000 mile tire. I'm at 25,000 now and don't see why I won't get at least 50,000. I'm not one to run tires right to the limit. At 1/8" tread I buy new tires. I caught Cooper with an $80 rebate when I bought mine. Around $600 OTD after rebate for 4 tires. The Duratracs or BFG AT's would have been closer to $1,000 all total.
