i have a 2002 taco 4x4 with blistein 5100 3in lift and the add-a-leaf is causing me some issues. My leafs are old and have gotten soft. Anyone have one to sell or know a place I can get some that won't kill my wallet?

Are there any good aftermarket options if you want to keep stock height?

If you dont plan on hauling or having a lot of weight in the back OME dakar is very stiff they really like extra weight..
i went All pro standard pack and it rides excellent.

That's interesting you say that. I wouldn't say that the OME Dakars are stiff at all. If anything they don't have enough load capacity. They are actually the same spring rate as factory springs, but probably feel stiff when compared to worn out stock springs. When I put the Dakars on my truck they struggled with any kind of load on them until I added the extra D6XL leaf to them. I think the standard Dakars are a great replacement for stock springs if you're looking for a small lift.

That is why i did not end up buying the dakars only via research and not personal experience since i read everywhere that they like weight and do not ride well unless aftermarket bumper, camper shell, or load up frequently.. and the price is great for them lol trust me i really was gonna get them.. but went all pro since i could not find anything negative on them and are a more soft progressive spring and i do not load up a lot all all or have extra weight in the back.. But if you have OME Dakars and that is how you feel i cant argue with you at all. .. lol as of now i almost want a few bags of concrete in the back to keep my ass down and tires on the ground better =)

edit- just checked your build nicely done man it looks great but you do have extra weight did you get dakars before or after all that beautiful stuffs

well whatever research you did and whoever told you that Dakars are stiff told you wrong. Like I said it's exactly the opposite of what I've seen from them. I needed to add the extra leaf to make them stiffer and handle any load.

The Dakars and the front OME coils was the very first thing I did to the truck so I ran it with stock bumpers and no weight for a while. It was fine when the truck was empty but as soon as I put a load in it they would sag badly. Once I added the extra leaf, they've been great for almost 5 years now.

Alcan will custom make springs if you give them exact measurements and im sure there are more company's that will do that.

If i were to buy springs again it would be Deaver, Allpro, Alcan, or Dakar since @Box Rocket changed my opinion on them.

Search "Tacoma spring refurbishing" on here and go from there. $100 for a set of junkyard Chevy springs and rides/hauls just as good as many other aftermarket leaf packs.

Just to share another firsthand experience on a truck without plate bumpers, armor, or any swingout mods, the Dakars without AAL have done pretty well dealing with a cap and bedmat full time, and with a full heavy camping load (bed completely full with spares/tools/fluids/recovery gear/water/a full wet bar/outdoor gear and towing a loaded up small camp trailer with full ARB fridge, water, and other sundries.
This is with an empty bed and dry trailer

And this is fully loaded bed and trailer for a 12-day trip. I did not measure, but it looks just a hair under level in the rear:

    And another

With out breaking the wallet ?, do a search "general springs leafs" there are a few threads on them. I did a before and after weight drop measurements .

I put the hd's on mine. Same number of leafs just thicker. And yes they handle a load. I looked hard at the ome/drakar set up but got a chance to drive a set that had 125k on them. They felt as bad as my worn out stockers.

go with the general HD leafs, you wont be sorry and they make the truck drive like new.

also put a set of Monroe quick struts for the front because those springs will be worn out as well

I replaced both on my truck and it rides like a Cadillac (if Cadillac made trucks that is lol)
