I asked 4 questions in this thread, and sent an email, and didn't get an answer to any.

    Rarely logs in.

I never use the forum to communicate with a vendor, outside occasional PMs.

As you have heard, OP just moved from CA to Texas and is still getting his stuff together and running like it should.

So, I can imagine he hasn't necessarily caught every email from his website, and I definitely wouldn't expect him to scan every post here looking for questions.

Hope your questions get answered now that he is posting here today. Try asking them again.

Received my key. Thanks OP! Now for some song and dance to get it cut and synced.

    Neneago or others:

Any tips for increasing the range with the remote keys? I just got the GQ43VT20T and I need to be within a few feet of the truck for it to work. Can't lock it from my upstairs bedroom window (directly overhead where I park the truck).

I always thought the OEM range was weak, but the range on this key seems to be much less.

    Thanks!

Put the fob up against your forehead and lock / unlock. Not even joking it will extend your range in a pinch

Mine seems to have enough range for me, comparable to my OEM one. I would try a new battery if I were you.

Point the blade towards the vehicle and hold down on the button you want to use. Don't just press and release.

Just got my key cut $5! Now to get with a local guy with a techstream to pair it to the truck.

Instead of getting the chip programmed, can you just zip tie your oem key near the ignition under the dash and have it work?

That would eliminate the security feature, but I know on mine the key has to be VERY close to the key cylinder. Like if it's inserted into the slot, but not pushed in more than halfway the truck won't start.

Only reason I know is from recently installing a remote start and messing with it.

    thanks!

Try your Toyota dealer. Mine did the cutting, at least, for nothing. He thought it was a neat idea and was interested to see if it would really work. Since I have no chip, programming was done by me.

Mountain States Toyota quoted $60 over the phone. They were also clear in saying that if it didn't work, you'd still have to pay the cost for the work. I'm sure that's just a standard warning for anyone that brings in their own key to cut and program. Another local locksmith quoted $80.

Unless another option presents itself, I may try to have Mountain States do it one day next week.
