The same reason they send the Pros to a processing center and build the Pro specific items to the truck by hand instead of adding it to the assembly line. Impeach variation costs money to implement on the line so they need to sell a certain amount of that variation to justify it.

It seems like that inner section (from the chrome trim inwards on the above blue taco) would be all that would be required to get rid of the excessive chrome grill on the TRD OR model pictured above. If toyota will sell those pieces separately it shouldn't be too expensive to change.

at least its a "smoked chrome". I plan to apply Dupli-Color Shadow kit to darken it even further and darken the universal chrome trim.

I don't mind the cheese grater grill, I dunno...it has really grown on me recently for some reason...perhaps the wife put something in my drink...

I'm 95% sure I'm buying a '16 (I gave my son my '96), so I'm not in the hater camp. But I did see the chrome cheese grater in person at the Denver auto show. It kind of sticks out and I didn't like it. I went to the show "I'm going to love it I'm going to love it I'm going to..." I was fine with everything but the cheese grater. But to each his own. If you like it, go for it. I think I'm going to really like this truck.

I am feeling better about it also. I think the photos are showing the contrast/darkness of the grater part, which sets it back visually and makes it less intrusive. I am interested to see it in person.

Still like the '12-'15 the best...I could live with the new styling though, but I dunno, looking at the spec sheet, doesn't seem like I can get a manual trans in the configure I want, fine with the SR base model...since I do my own suspension...I don't want to pay extra for the OR just to get a manual trans. That and the engine numbers aren't all that impressive. Maybe mpg will be stellar, but I am not holding my breath.

So with "ok" styling...and with a couple other marks against it, not sure if Toyota will get any of money.

This looks much better than the other pics......maybe it's the mud on it, maybe it's the grill, maybe it's not having that stupid air dam crap on it or maybe it's all of those. This grill looks better than the ones on the blue truck pics to me, cheese grater or not. The other one just looks dumb, cheese grater better. Likin the tan color too.

That is the "cheese grater grill". I agree it looks good in this picture. Its the angle. You dont notice the huge underbite and the light isnt showing the chrome overload of the grille, the whole thing is basically chrome. I too like the sand color.

The one on the blue truck just looks silly. I thought I saw a different raptor looking grill on some other pics of the 16 that I liked better than both of these. Not sure what grill that was tho. Can't find it now. The best change on the tan truck is NOT having that black strip of crap under the bumper IMO.

The TRD Pro raptor grill was a photoshop idea. Agreed, only the sport and limited have that lower valance crap. When its time to upgrade I'll be looking at an offroad.

I like it so much I'm switching from ordering a Limited to ordering a TRD Sport.

Because that has nothing to do with the fact that I can't get a Limited in DCLB.

I will likely trade in my 15 on one. It will have less than 3000 miles on it What could it cost me? Another $5000? Mine is paid off and i think they will give me a good trade number
